Unfortunately when we arrived this morning we noticed that some kind person has helped themselves to approx 12 Yorkshire stone flags from this large grave. They were there on Thursday afternoon and not there at 8.30am this morning.

They've lasted the best part of 100 yrs before someone's clearly decided they would look better as a patio rather than as completion to a family grave!!!

We will be reporting it to the police but let's face it they've enough to do than try and trace the flags.

Keep your eyes and ears open for any other unwelcome visitors.

We will be starting wall repairs to the burial ground entrance on Halifax Road this month after the recent hit and run by a white Mitsubishi Pick-up in January.

This will take a number of months and continue to cause disruption to the top entrance.

If you require access to visit graves and the Halifax Road entrance is blocked please use the bottom entrance off Cragg Lane.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi all, just looking for any information/help or dashcam footage of an accident that happened in Denholme Clough on A629 Halifax Road travelling to/from Halifax and Keighley.

A vehicle/s have crashed into the bus stop and wall causing considerable damage to the wall, bus stop and fencing, it has happened during this wintery weather which is understandable as its been awful but the cost of repairs will be considerable and we would like to speak to anyone involved.

Many thanks

Pictures show the area and actual wall that has been damaged. (Pictures taken from Google) but we have pictures of the damage

Please take care when walking through the burial ground, we have got a few trees that have branches down. We have moved as much as we can to ensure the burial ground is accessible and we will be clearing up properly once the wind calms down.

We recently got a small sign for the burial ground gates, we hope visitors like it.

We are also waiting for a Common Wealth War Grave Commission sign to be installed which will alert visitors to the fact that we have two CWGC graves within the burial ground.

Ever since we bought the burial ground there has been a large gap of broken wall - there are others too but have to start somewhere.

We recently spent a few days making it safe and rebuilding it. Can you spot where the hole was?

We've also found interesting ancient plastic from days gone by in the soil mound 🤣

The Horse Chestnut and Elder trees all have lovely buds and green leaves on them. The snowdrops have been replaced with lots of gorgeous daffodils and the grass has had the first cut of the season.

We love to say "Hi" to anyone walking through the burial ground but please take your poo bags with you!!!

You may notice when you are visiting the burial ground that we have had to fell most of a tree near the entrance.

Unfortunately when we bought the burial ground a number of years ago there was a diseased oak which was steadily getting worse. To make sure there was no damage to monuments and to keep visitors safe we have taken branches off which were overhanging the path.

Fear not as we have two oak saplings growing nicely which will be planted in due course and the shoot at the bottom of the trunk may yet survive.

For anyone interested you can sadly see the rot/fungus in the trunk. It is the discolouration where you would normal count the rings of a tree.

There are lots of snowdrops and daffodils starting to come up along with some good fungi and an old empty nest in the wall.

Won't be long until Spring.
