Easthampstead Parish Church

Easthampstead Parish Church We are the Parish Church for Easthampstead, Wildridings, Jennett's Park, Great Hollands, and Birch Hill

We are St Michael and St Mary Magdalene Parish Church in Easthampstead. We are part of the Church of England and Diocese of Oxford. God has been worshipped on the site of the Church since around the year 1060. The church was rebuilt in 1867 occupying the same site and incorporating a number of the original features. It is an impressive building to which visitors from home and abroad come to visit.

In particular our East Window which is a masterpiece by William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. We believe our calling and mission as a Church, which is part of the larger Mission of God, is: to nurture in others faith, to be lifelong learners of Christ, to share our catholic Anglican spiritual roots, to be a safe and trusted place for all, to be an open and welcoming community, to be an intergenerational community of grace, to be active in service to each other and others around us, and to encourage fellowship.

The story of Adam and Eve reminds us of something beautifully simple:
God made us for love, and God doesn’t give up on us.

We sometimes choose what looks good instead of what brings life.
We hide.
We get things wrong.

But God keeps coming close.
God keeps calling us back.
God keeps loving us.

Lent is our chance to start again — gently, honestly, and with God walking beside us.

As we enter the season of Lent, a time of reflection and renewal, members of our church give voice to the brokenness we see in the world through the timeless words of Psalm 51: the harm we do to creation, the anger and violence we allow to grow, the resources we fail to share, the neighbours we overlook, and the peace we neglect to make. This video shows these wounds, not to condemn, but to invite us into God’s work of cleansing, healing, and restoring all things.

Holy God,
wash us and renew us.
Cleanse our hearts,
heal our world, and
lead us in your way of mercy and peace.
Amen.

As we gather for pancakes and laughter, we pause to remember that this day is more than a tradition—it’s a gentle doorway into Lent. A moment to savour community, to lay down what burdens us, and to prepare our hearts for the journey toward Easter.

Whether you’re flipping pancakes at home or joining us in church at 6pm this evening for our regular half hour communion service, may today bring joy, lightness, and a sense of God’s grace as we step into the season ahead.

All are welcome. Always.
