Bourton on the Hill Parish Church

Bourton on the Hill Parish Church Welcome to St Lawrence, Bourton-on-the-Hill. A historic church overlooking the Evenlode Valley in the North Cotswolds. Open every day.

The Norman parish church of the parish of St Lawrence, Bourton-on-the-Hill. Built in 1157, St Lawrence was originally dedicated to St Mary. It is a beautiful place of peace and prayer, located in the North Cotswolds. Our page was originally started in an attempt to reunite a bunny rabbit left in church by a visitor with its rightful owner. But sadly this has not yet happened. However the page has

proved popular and developed into a small web presence for our historic and welcoming church community.

πŸ•―οΈ [CANDLES FOR UKRAINE] - Donate Your Old Candles!

We are collecting used candle stubs and wax remnants to create vital Trench Candles for soldiers and civilians facing the cold in Ukraine.

These simple, homemade candles are life-savers. Made from old food tins and wax, a single Trench Candle can burn for several hours, providing essential heat for keeping warm and cooking food.

What we need:
- Wax/Candle stubs: any and all bits of wax (old stubs, broken pieces, scented or unscentedβ€”if it melts, we can use it).
- Metal tins: clean, empty 400g food tins (must be entirely metal, not plastic-lined).

We CANNOT accept tea lights due to the metal cups.

How to donate:
Please drop off your donations at St Lawrence's church in Bourton on the Hill, Blockley Church or Ebrington Church.

Every little bit of wax is a flicker of hope and warmth for someone in need. Thank you for your support!

Do you have a few hours to spare and would like to volunteer for the North Cotswold Foodbank?

The charity is looking for two people to lead its outlets in Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold.

Each role would mean volunteering for a few hours per week (but not necessarily every week).

Food bank Manager Kevin Carden said, β€œThere are no special qualifications required – we just want friendly people who have lots of common sense, good organisational skills, and are comfortable using a computer.

β€œIf you want to join a charity which makes a real difference in our area, this could be a real opportunity.”

North Cotswold Foodbank, based in Guiting Power, provides more than 1,700 food parcels every year for more than 4,000 people from its seven outlets in the Cotswolds, and is almost entirely run by volunteers.

The Stow outlet is open on Wednesdays, 10am-12. The Chipping Campden outlet is open on Fridays, 12-1.30pm.

For more information about the Volunteer Lead roles in Stow and Chipping Campden, please go to the website.
