This post was discussed after Meeting for Worship this morning! Have we lost the art of plain speaking? Or was it never that plain anyway?

Featuring Chris, Kate and Gill from Bournemouth, Wimborne and Poole meetings!

Hope is...
Growing food together, laughing and learning
Sharing resources like clothes, bikes, even musical instruments!
Making the joys of reading accessible to all
Clothing to play sport and succeed at job interviews
A friendly voice in the loneliest of times

And so much more! We’ve gathered 17 stories of hope from up and down the country into one inspiring blog post. It’s our act of hope as partners in the Million Acts of Hope A Million Acts of Hope campaign. https://qva.org.uk/million-acts-of-hope/

We’re so grateful to Friends who shared their volunteering story and to Quakers in Britain for helping to get the word out.

But we want to know - what does hope mean to you? Please leave a comment! ⬇️

Van Drivers, your community needs you.
We are in desperate need of some more van drivers who can commit to volunteering one morning a week.
Meet Richard, one of our long standing volunteer drivers. He describes his role as being great fun and enjoys mixing with others. He also said that knowing he is helping others gives him a great sense of achievement as does knowing he is giving back.

We need to let go of certainty, the certainty that we know the answer. We need to let go of the outcome, and let the Spirit move: Friends who were in Friends House meeting room will long remember the improvised cheerful hymn-singing when the Zoom sound failed. Can we be open not only to this kind of gentle wind, but also to the storm that sweeps through and blows down trees, leaving room for new seeds to sprout? Let us hold spaces which are safe not just for the still small voice, but also for the wind, the storms, the power that makes us uncomfortable and which stirs us to action.

Do we still have the power to turn the world upside-down? Let it be so!
