BH1 Elim Church (formerly Springbourne Christian Centre) is an Elim Pentecostal church located in the heart of Springbourne, in Bournemouth. Our primary aim is to show the people in and around Springbourne that there is a God who cares for them. We try to do this by getting involved in the community and demonstrating God’s love for them, rather than banging on doors and telling people they’re doin
g life all wrong. Most of the time this would not be helpful, and is generally wrong anyway as we find the people around us are very nice when we get to know them. Please feel free to have a look around our website, and if you’re interested, pop in to the church sometime and see us. Community Events
Our community events are varied, we have the regulars – JAM, Parent & Toddlers, Aspire and the irregulars – Fun days, Free-2-you sales (like a jumble sale, but without the 10p price tickets). Our Christmas Sunday Hog Roasts are something of a regular now (though not guaranteed – we might do something different this year) and very popular. Discipleship
When we find people who are interested in learning more about what we’re about we try to fill them in initially with Alpha or Christianity Explored courses. We’ve run a C.E. follow-on course called ‘Discipleship Explored’ for those who want to know about the Christian life in a bit more detail, and a ‘School of the Spirit’ followed on from that to really give people some more in depth teaching. Obviously our Sunday services are a big part of growth for new and old Christians alike – we get the chance to worship God, and try to vary the preacher for the benefit of those listening as well as those speaking. House groups are also a key part of learning more about the practicalities of living with God in your life, giving the chance to study and discuss in a more informal setting. Kids work
Our kids work is in two parts – Friday nights at JAM are about getting involved with the local children and having fun. There’s a theme to each week, and a short slot about an aspect of God from the bible near the end. Sunday kids church is more focussed on getting the children into the bible, and covers all ages from pre-school right up to the end of secondary school (which isn’t really kids, but I’ll put it here anyway). Youth Work
When kids transform into ‘youth’ they don’t stop needing to hear about Jesus. We have a youth club on Friday nights at 7:30 for those of secondary school ages. On a Sunday the youth have their own teaching while the adults are having theirs in the main hall. Three times a year we have our youth event called The Grid.
