POPE LEO XIV
The Pope met on Thursday with participants in the Plenary Session of the Dicastery for Evangelisation – Section for Fundamental Questions of Evangelisation in the World. He recalled that 33 million people visited Rome during the 2025 Jubilee of Hope, thanking the Dicastery for coordinating efforts to welcome such a large number of the faithful. Calling it "a time of grace," the Pope said the Jubilee was lived in Rome through pilgrimage to the four Papal Basilicas, as well as in local Church communities, where Catholics recognised our deep desire for hope. Pope Leo noted that the proclamation of the Gospel is not a utopian proposal but a witness that attracts others through the call to love and truth. "Evangelisation asks that it continue to be the fundamental motivation of every action of the universal Church and of local communities," he said. "Only in this way is faith rediscovered again and again in its beauty and able to express its credibility in the best way." ... Many young people are waking up to their hunger for spirituality, he noted, urging the Church to respond to that desire by continuing to find new ways to preach the Gospel. "The new generation is not closed off to the Gospel," he said. "On the contrary, many, when they rediscover it, want to know it better, because they perceive that within it lies the secret to being truly happy." FOODBANK COLLECTION
Last week's Foodbank collection amounted to a total of 63.7 Kg (143 lbs) in goods plus £720 monetary donations. Many thanks to all Parishioners for your most generous donations, also thanks to all the volunteers who helped in any way with the collection. POPE LEO XIV
The Pope met on Friday with participants in the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, entitled “Preserving human faces and voices.” The one-day event brought together experts in the fields of AI, education, and theology to explore the Pope’s message for this year’s World Communications Day. POPE LEO XIV

As The Twinning Group celebrates its 40yrs with Jouy en Josas, France, an open invitation has been extended to all interested persons. The Chair and Vice Chair of the Jouy Comité are coming to Bothwell to encourage interested persons to restart the Jumelage. The Hub (Old Library) is the venue for this event on Friday on 15th May between 5 and 7pm. If you would like to learn more, this is your opportunity.

POPE'S MAY PRAYER INTENTION: 'That everyone might have food'
Pope Leo XIV has urged Catholics across the globe to join him this May in praying that everyone might have food. He released the monthly “Pray with the Pope” video on Thursday, which is prepared by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. In his prayer, the Pope recognized with sorrow that millions of brothers and sisters continue to suffer from hunger. Lamenting that so many goods are wasted at our tables, Pope Leo prayed that the Lord may "awaken in us a new awareness: that we learn to give thanks for every food, to consume simply, to share with joy, and to care for the fruits of the earth as a gift from You, destined for all, not just a few." He prayed that Jesus make us capable of "transforming the logic of selfish consumption into a culture of solidarity," through our communities by promoting concrete gestures, including awareness campaigns, food banks, and a sober and responsible lifestyle. We will welcome the children of St. Bride’s Primary School to the first Friday Mass tomorrow (1st) at 9.30am.

SSVP will be offering tea/coffee in the Church Hall after the Mass. Everyone welcome, please come along.

FOODBANK COLLECTION
Last week's Foodbank collection amounted to a total of 88.8 Kg (199 lbs) in goods plus £800 monetary donations. Many thanks to all Parishioners for your most generous donations, also thanks to all the volunteers who helped in any way with the collection. Thanking you all for your continued and ongoing support to this worthy local charity.

PARISH CHRISTMAS DANCE
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and those who donated Raffle prizes, the sum of £900 was raised and afterwards presented to the Poor Clares. If anyone is interested in organising future Parish Christmas Dances, please contact Fr Hughes or Tommy Hannah.

BOTHWELL PHILHARMONIC CHOIR
Presents MUSIC FOR A SUMMER EVENING, in Bothwell
Parish Church on Friday 29th May at 7.30pm. Special Guests are Ben Eames and Aileen Sweeney. Tickets £12. Available from Choir Members or at door on the night.

CELEBRATING 40 YRS OF TWINNING
As The Twinning Group celebrates its 40yrs with Jouy en Josas, France. An open invitation has been extended to all interested persons. The Chair and Vice Chair of the Jouy Comité are coming to Bothwell to encourage interested persons to restart the Jumelage. The Hub (Old Library) is the venue for this event on Friday on 15th May between 5 and 7pm. If you would like to learn more, this is your opportunity.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSES
Online booking is now open for couples preparing for marriage within the Catholic Church. All courses take place at St Augustine's Parish Centre Coatbridge. ML5 1DQ.
The dates for the remainder of 2026 are as follows:
