Influential theologian 93: George Whitefield (1714–1770) was an English Anglican priest and itinerant preacher who became one of the primary founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement.

Revered as "The Great Awakener," he was arguably the most famous public figure in colonial America prior to George Washington, utilizing a booming voice and dramatic open-air preaching style to spark the "First Great Awakening" .

Good morning,
Today is the Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity or Proper 18. It is also Creation Sunday, a new festival in the Church of England.
As this is the last service for Fr Mark, the Haven Group are meeting together at St Swithin's in Bicker at 11.00am.
Everyone is welcome to come and join us.

The Collect for today:
Almighty God,
whose only Son has opened for us
a new and living way into your presence:
give us pure hearts and steadfast wills
to worship you in spirit and in truth:
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
