✨ **Introducing our Chatan Torah and Kallat Bereish*t for 5787**

We’re delighted to announce this year’s **Chatan Torah, Alex Brown**, and **Kallat Bereish*t, Miriam Westbrook**.

Both Alex and Miriam have shown real dedication and commitment to Kehillat Nashira, and we’re very pleased to be celebrating them this Simchat Torah.

**Looking for something a little different this Rosh Hashana?**

Alongside our main service on the **first day of Rosh Hashana, Shabbat 12 September**, we’re offering a **parallel Jewish meditation session for adults**, led by Zac Newman, Program Director at Or HaLev.

Through a series of short guided meditations, discussion and Q&A, we’ll explore Rosh Hashana “from the inside”.

No previous meditation experience is assumed or required.

As we approach Rosh Hashanah and the High Holy Days, we’re inviting you to become a **Builder or Pillar of Kehillat Nashira**.

5787 will be a milestone year for our community as we move into our permanent home in the heart of Borehamwood. Having a space of our own will help us put down roots and grow, but we can only do this with the regular support of our community.

**Builders contribute £15 per adult per month**
**Pillars contribute £25 per adult per month**

Both include High Holy Days places, priority Chagim booking, free or reduced-cost events, support from Rabbi Miriam and a seasonal gift.

Children under 18 are included at no additional cost.

**Pillars also receive** free lifecycle events and educational opportunities, plus discounted hire of our new venue.

Free PAT testing for Shabbat hotplates and urns

We’re arranging PAT testing for our community’s Shabbat equipment ahead of the chagim, and we have space to include **up to 30 community-owned hotplates and urns, free of charge**.

📅 **PAT testing:** Wednesday 2 September at 11am
📍 **Drop-off:** To Rabbi Miriam by 8pm on Tuesday 1 September
📍 **Collection:** By 8pm on Wednesday 2 September

We’re also hoping to build a small pool of PAT-tested equipment that Kehillat Nashira can borrow when we need extra hotplates and urns for Shabbat and community events. There’s no obligation to lend your equipment, but if you’re happy for us to borrow it occasionally, it would be a really useful shared resource.

**Have a hotplate or urn that needs testing?** Drop it to Rabbi Miriam by **8pm on Tuesday 1 September**.

This Shabbat, we’ll be celebrating **Raphael Maraney’s Bar Mitzvah**. A huge mazal tov to Ben, Shoshana, Mika and, of course, Raphael.

High Holy Days 5787 | Booking is now open

Join Kehillat Nashira for the High Holy Days this year.

**Yom Kippur**
**Sunday 20 September** | Kol Nidrei
**Monday 21 September** | Yom Kippur
📍 Central Borehamwood venue

Yom Kippur will include Kol Nidrei, Shacharit, Mussaf, Mincha and Neila, alongside children’s services, lunch and activities.



**Booking is now open.** Priority is given to Builders and Pillars, with remaining places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
