Headley Down Community Church needs a new volunteer treasurer.

Headley Down Community Church (formerly St Francis) is a small but growing independent Church with an active food bank serving the whole of the Headley Down area.

After 10 years our present treasurer is retiring and we urgently need somebody to take over.

The task involves managing collections and donations, supervising our bank accounts and paying suppliers etc.

Our accounts are well set up and the current treasurer will be on hand to assist during the transfer.

Is it your birthday this week?
If so, Happy birthday 🎂!
On Sunday it is Pentecost.
Did you know that Pentecost is often referred to as the birthday of the Church? It is called that because Pentecost ( 50 days after Easter) is when the apostles went out among the people and began spreading Jesus’ message, and so establishing the beginning of the Church.

A big thank you for all of you who attended the fundraising evening last Saturday. It was a most enjoyable and successful evening and all told we raised around £530 towards the cost of the mixer and other audio visual needs of the church. Lots of people were involved in making the evening happen so thank you for all your effort.
Special thanks to the talented musicians, singers and members of the Wey Community Gospel choir from Guildford who entertained us.

This week (4th to 10th May) is Deaf Awareness week. We try to be inclusive at HDCC for our regulars and visitors so in the services we always use microphones 🎤.
We have one that is height adjustable at the lectern and can be removed and used to pass around for community prayers. Some speakers wear a lapel mike. We have a hearing loop installed. Our song lyrics and readings are displayed on a large screen. We use subtitles on videos where available. Some of our guests at Friday Coffee time were struggling hearing conversations in the hall so we now meet in the church itself. On Saturday 9th May we are fundraising for our audio visual needs by hosting a musical concert so please come to support. Tickets still available, see previous posts for details.

More details about our fantastic fundraising concert next Saturday. There will be music from Simon and Garfunkel, Alison Krauss, James Taylor, Mark Knopfler and other songs that will be familiar to you.
The Wey Community Gospel choir from Guildford will be singing too.

Ever felt like you’d be out of place in a church?
Many people feel like they don’t quite belong in a formal church service.
That's one of the reasons once a month we have Cafe Church when it's more casual.
Why not give us a go this Sunday at 10.30am. We will be serving breakfast pastries and buns. Everything is on a large screen so it's easy to follow.
If you want a sneak preview of the church you could always come to our Coffee Time on Friday mornings. Also 10.30am.
You'll always find refreshment at our church! 😄

Welcome to our Sunday Worship service this week at 10.30am April 12th. Our theme is the appearance of Jesus after his Resurrection as written in the Gospel of Luke- Chapter 24 verses 13 to 45.
You can expect from our service videos, songs, prayers, reading from the Bible, community prayers and a talk on the theme. You can also expect a friendly welcome and a cuppa before and after!
