O God, who willed that your Only Begotten Son
should undergo the Cross to save the human race,
grant, we pray,
that we, who have known his mystery on earth,
may merit the grace of his redemption in heaven.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

The key aim of the Liturgy of the Word with Children at Sacred Heart is to proclaim the Gospel to the children who attend. For them to discover the riches of prayer, through word and gesture, silence and stillness which will lead them into full, conscious and active participation in the liturgy of the parish, helping them grow in communion with Christ and each other. CLotW is our way of continuing Jesus actions as he “put his arms around the little children . . . and blessed them” (Mark 10:16). Children aged from 3 until they have made their first Holy Communion are invited to celebrate God's Word together during our 10 am Sunday Masses. Children start each Mass with their families. Just before the First Reading Father will invite those children who wish to take part in the Children's Liturgy of the Word to come forward. He presents them with the Children's Lectionary and they will then go in procession to the worship space that has been prepared for them. The children continue to follow the same structure of the Mass until after the intercessions when the group processes back into church as part of the Offertory Procession, returning the Children’s Lectionary to Father and then returning to their families. Parents should make sure they register their child/ren as they arrive for Mass and read the notices about the procedures to follow if there is ever a need to evacuate the building in an emergency situation. There is no CLotW during the summer holidays and children stay in Mass with their families on Christmas Day & Easter Sunday. All adults on the CLotW team are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Grant, Lord, we pray,
that the spirit of prayer fostered by Saint Deiniol,
a father of religious life in Wales,
may renew and inspire all who gather to celebrate your praise.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
