Together let us unite as a global church in prayer for the Dignity of Human Life.

Pope Leo will hold a Holy Hour at 5:30PM (Rome time) tomorrow on Sunday 19 April, with many parishes holding their own Holy Hours at the same time: 4:30PM (UK time).

Let us pray especially that every human life, at every stage, may be protected and defended.

Consider making a commitment tomorrow: to switch off distractions, set aside one hour, and be present - physically if possible, or spiritually if not - to join in this Holy Hour.

May our prayer become reparation, intercession, and renewed courage to defend the dignity of every person.

"A civilised society should never place children in the position of trying to learn while hungry."

More than 300,000 children in our diocese are living in poverty and many families have to make difficult decisions every day when it comes to providing food or other essentials for those closest to them.

Bishop John Arnold has written an article, which has been shared on the No Child Left Behind website today, highlighting the need for action: www.caritassalford.org.uk/bishop-john-school-meals/
