Itโ€™s been lovely to see the flurry of photos that have appeared over the last few days on pages from churches across Diocese of Durham as church wardens headed to Durham Cathedral on Sunday afternoon to be commissioned for their year ahead serving local churches.

Here in The Boldons we are blessed to have Brenda, Brian, Carol and Edna as our church wardens. Each one of them brings so much to the life of our churches, as we are for everyone who serves in our community. ๐Ÿ’’

Please join us in praying for them. ๐Ÿ™

Today at Grace Worship Lorraine, our Foodbank Coordinator for Grace Church, collected the donations that have been left at the back of church. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Lorraine shared this photo of the latest haul ๐Ÿ˜ and asked us to pass on โ€œa huge thank you to everyone whoโ€™s donating ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Keep it coming, no matter how small the donation it's still a huge help. The foodbank is in the process of moving to the CA to a bigger room to better serve the community. Their needs change but with the school holidays coming up, snacks, crisps, quick (long life) meals are fantastic ๐Ÿ˜ We're sending a great variety though so that's fab. I really appreciate everyone and everything ๐Ÿ’žxxโ€

Rev Paul had us thinking today at Grace Worship about โ€œwhat is the point of the churchโ€. We came up with lots of ideas, including worshiping God, growing in our faith (individually and as a church community) and looking outward to bless our community. Donating and supporting our local Foodbank is an important way that we at Grace Church show love to our community and the people in it. ๐Ÿ’š

Thanks everyone ๐Ÿ’’

Meet our Ordinands: Alison Donnison
Thereโ€™s nobody more surprised than Alison that sheโ€™s soon going to be ordained a deacon. Sheโ€™s been a Christian her whole life and pre-Covid, used to volunteer as a listener at Durham Cathedral . After the pandemic, Alison ended up attending a Wings for Worship course which she loved. Next, she completed the Authorised Lay Ministry course but still felt called to do more, which is how Alison ended up training for ordination at Lindisfarne College of Theology and is now looking forward to serving in the Benefice of the Boldons.
