Today, 24th July, we pause to remember, with gratitude, the wonderful James "Arthur" Findlay, one of our most beloved pioneers, who passed to Spirit on this day in 1964. 🌻🧡
His vision, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the advancement of Spiritualism continues to touch the lives of countless people across the world.
Arthur's gift of Stansted Hall to the Spiritualists' National Union created a lasting home for the College proudly bearing his name - a place where students, tutors, healers, speakers, and mediums continue to gather in the pursuit of knowledge, personal growth, and the unfolding of Spirit. More than sixty years after his passing, his legacy lives on in every course taught, every friendship formed, every moment of inspiration shared, and every connection made with our Spirit loved ones.
Arthur was a passionate researcher, author, and advocate for Spiritualism. Throughout his life, he sought to explore and share the evidence for the continuity of life with honesty, curiosity, and integrity, encouraging others to approach Spiritualism with both an open heart and an enquiring mind.
We also remember with heartfelt appreciation his beloved wife, Gertrude, whose support and generosity were instrumental in helping Arthur realise his vision. Together, their remarkable legacy continues to benefit generations of Spiritualists from around the world.
As we remember Arthur Findlay, we give thanks for a life devoted to service, for the enduring gift of Stansted Hall, and for the spiritual home that continues to flourish through the Arthur Findlay College.
We are proud that for 2026 we continue to honour this great pioneer's legacy with the return of the Arthur Findlay Lecture, that will be taking place this afternoon at 2:00pm at the colllege, and we shall be recording to share with those who cannot be in attendance.
May we continue to honour the vision and example of great pioneers such as Arthur and Gertrude, by serving Spirit with compassion, integrity, and our ongoing commitment to learning and development.
