With gratitude for a good life, lived with faith and love, we share the details of the celebration of the life of beloved church member Margaret Ferguson which will take place on Wednesday 9th September at 11.30am at Blyth Crematorium.

Donations are invited in Margaret’s memory for the British Heart Foundation.

All are invited after the service to refreshments at Margaret’s home.

We hold in our prayers Paul, Ruth, Mark and their families. We thank God that Margaret is now reunited with husband Albert.

May Margaret rest in peace and rise in glory and may light perpetual shine upon her.

We pray for those gathered at the Big Church Festival, those affected by the incident, and those awaiting news of the safety of loved ones. We pray too for the organisers of the Big Church Festival and for the emergency services and other agencies involved.

Public Statement:

Big Church Festival 2026 has been paused following a serious incident on site, and no further programme will take place today.

First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been directly impacted by the incident.

We understand this will be deeply disappointing for the thousands who have joined us at the festival.

We are working closely with the emergency services and relevant authorities. Further announcements will be made as more information becomes available.

We are grateful for the understanding, patience, and prayers of our community at this time.

There is work
waiting for your hands.

Nothing grand.
No mountains
with your name on them.
No great deed
that will make
the world stop
and notice.

Just the small patch
of earth
beneath your feet,
and the quiet invitation
to tend it.

A table
that could be widened.
A wound
that could be bound.
A voice
that could speak
when silence
would be easier.
A seed
that could be planted
in ground
you may never
see flower.

This is how
the kingdom comes.

Not always
with thunder
or trumpet,
but through ordinary hands
willing to become
co-workers with God.

Hands that gather
what has been scattered.
Hands that mend
what has been torn.
Hands that carry
one more stone
towards a peace
they may never
live to see.

You aren't asked
to finish
the whole work.

Only to notice
the piece
that has been placed
before you.

To bring
what you have.
To begin
where you are.
To trust
that somewhere
beyond your seeing,
other hands
are working too.

And perhaps
that is grace.

That the God
who could surely
do it all
without us
chooses instead
to make room
beside Him,
and says,

Come,
there's work
for us
to do.

Many have been asking what we are most short of. We are almost out of t bags, noodles, packets of pasta in sauce and biscuits. We still have trollies in big Asda and Morrisons so if you can, it would be appreciated if you could drop one of them or any other items in our trolley or drop them off at the Foodbank on Seaforth Street. We are open for deliveries Monday to Friday 9 to 11am. fans

The service this morning is held at Cowpen Methodist Church, at 10.30am, and we will be joined by friends from Central Methodist Church Blyth.

As we gather together to watch the solar eclipse, we pray that the
God who made the stars may hold you in light and in shadow. May you notice wonder this week. And may your questions draw you closer to love. Amen. 🙏⭐🌞🌜

With sadness we share news of the death of Bill Robson on 8th April, aged 88 years. We hold in our prayers wife Margaret and son Kevin and their families.

Bill's funeral will take place this coming Thursday, 30th April at 11.30am at Cowpen Crematorium, followed by refreshments at Cowpen Methodist Church.

Donations in lieu of flowers will be gratefully received in memory of Bill for Cowpen Methodist Church and Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Transport Service.
