St Bede's is your local Church of England church if you live in Newsham, New Delaval, Newsham Farm Estate, Portland Wynd, South Newsham, and part of The Avenues, though our congregation also includes people who live further away.

24 Hours of Prayer with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament as we pray that God will REFRESH us. Watch out for more information in the next few weeks.

We had a wonderful celebration of The Assumption and of our parish life as we celebrated the patronal festival of St Mary's Church, Horton today. Father James reminded us that Mary's Assumption is the great sign of hope that we all share in the resurrection of Jesus.

Thank you to all who came to share in a wonderful Mass and refreshments after.

Mass isn't just for special days and Mass is celebrated every Sunday at St Mary's, Horton at 8.30am and throughout the week at St Bede's. You are aways welcome.

Our next Healing Mass at St Bede's will take place on Monday 17 August at 7pm.

This is a chance to pray particularly for God's gifts of healing and peace and to receive the Church's ministry of prayer, the laying on of hands and anointing with the Oil of the Sick.

Jesus says 'come to me all you who carry heavy burdens' - come and place your own burdens in the hands of Jesus and receive his healing touch.

Some of our church family made the journey to Alnmouth today to join the community at Alnmouth Friary to celebrate the Feast of St Clare of Assisi. It was a joy to be with our bishop, Bishop Stephen Race, who celebrated mass and to enjoy a wonderful BBQ provided by the Franciscans.

We are very grateful for our links with the community at Alnmouth at St Bede's. The brothers joined us for the Easter Vigil this year and Frs Ian and James often say Mass for the community at the Friary. St Clare, St Francis and St Bede, pray for us! 🙏

At Mass today we heard the story of Jesus walking on water and calming the disciples' fears. Join us for Mass throughout this week where you can meet the calming presence of Christ during the storms of life.

This Saturday (15th August) we mark the patronal festival of our sister church, St Mary's Church, Horton, as we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady with a Sung Mass at 11am, followed by refreshments. Join us for this great celebration for our parish. There will be no Mass at St Bede's that day.

Some of our parish activities have taken a break for the summer but there is still lots happening at St Bede's. There is Mass every day at St Bede's (except Fridays) so why not come along and meet God in this special way?

This Saturday also sees our Summer Cakes and Craft Fair. It's a chance to support local artists and craft makers with a range of stalls as well as enjoy some delicious cakes. 11am - 3pm at St Bede's.
