We would like to start with a series on an absolute fundamental; - GODS WORD.
God’s preserved Word: The Holy Bible - VOL 1
Theme : Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”
Focused passage for today: Luke 3:10-14
God promised to preserve His Word so that it will be available to all generations and He has kept His promise. This is why we still have the Holy Bible today. The Bible was and is inspired by God and is the primary guide to godly living and the source of Christian belief. The Bible contains all of God’s counsel (practical instructions) about how we should conduct ourselves in the modern world.
Luke 3:10-14 - And the people asked him (John Baptist), saying, what shall we do then? He answered and said to them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, and what shall we do? And he said unto them, do violence to no man, accuse no one falsely and be content with your wages.
In these verses there is something for everyone although it specifically addresses what are today’s revenue collectors and financiers generally (Publicans) and ‘soldiers’ (all those charged with enforcing the law; there were no policeman as such at the time). These verses are a general instruction to the powerful not to exploit the weak and for all of us to look after each other. We have a distressing human tendency to be insensitive to the suffering of others.
God Bless.
