This is why we do it 💚

A lovely message from one of our Saturday Surplus Food families today.

With just a few bits picked up this morning — bananas, potatoes, carrots, eggs and other surplus items — they’ve made homemade chips, carrot and potato balls, banana pancakes, breakfasts for the week and veg for meals too.

It’s not just about food support. It’s about helping families, reducing waste, and making sure good food is used.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports, volunteers and donates. And thank you to the families who come along and make the most of it — you are part of this too. 💚

Layton Youth Forum starts tomorrow 💚

Tomorrow we’re proud to host the first Layton Youth Forum at Layton Methodist.

This isn’t about politics or faith — it’s about young people having a real say in the place they live, learn, access and care about.

Our Youth Hub plans are about creating a community space for Layton: somewhere safe, welcoming and inclusive, shaped with young people, not just for them.

The Forum will also help young people feed into Layton Together and Pride in Place, making sure their voices are part of local decisions.

Oasis Community Café | What would you like to see? 💚

A big thank you to everyone who has supported our café so far.

We’re having a little look at the menu and what we could add or change.

Oasis is about more than food — it’s a brew, a chat, a friendly face, and part of the wider Forward Project support for our community.

So, what would you like to see?

Afternoon tea? More homemade specials? Different breakfast ideas? More options for children? Something else?

Pop your ideas below or tell us when you’re next in.

In the meantime, we’ll see you soon 💚

Free Fruit for Students – Fuelling Them Through Exam Season! 🍎🍌

The Blackpool Sixth Form College contacted us to ask if we could support their students during exam season, and thanks to working with our partners at Tesco Express (Layton) - Vince and Tesco Clifton Extra - Emma, we’ve managed to secure enough fruit to help.

We really enjoy working together to support young people, build skills for life, and keep developing our Living Well in Blackpool approach.

Exams can be stressful, so this is a small way to offer students a free, healthy boost while they revise and sit their exams.

A huge thank you to Tesco for helping make this possible, and good luck to all students sitting exams. 💚
