⚪️THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST - CORPUS CHRISTI⚪️

Today’s Solemnity is really what it is all about.

The Source and Summit of our life as Catholics. Accepting the divine invitation to meet Christ, face to face, in His Most Holy Body and Blood in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

When Jesus tells His disciples, “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood”, He does not speak in metaphor or symbolism. He gives Himself completely to us. Every Mass, from the grandest cathedral to the smallest village church, makes present that same sacrifice of Calvary and that same Risen Christ.

The Eucharist is where Heaven meets Earth. It is where the sinner finds mercy, the weary find strength, the doubtful find reassurance, and the faithful are nourished for the journey ahead. It is Christ Himself who waits for us in the Tabernacle, who speaks to us through His Word, and who comes to dwell within us in Holy Communion.

How often do we find ourselves searching for God in extraordinary places, whilst overlooking the greatest miracle of all? The Lord of Heaven and Earth humbles Himself to become our food. Not because we deserve it, but because He loves us.

As we celebrate Corpus Christi today, let us renew our love for the Blessed Sacrament. Let us spend time before Him in prayer, receive Him worthily, and give thanks for the immeasurable gift He leaves us.

Lord Jesus Christ, truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist, increase our faith, strengthen our hope, and inflame our hearts with love for You.

With warmest wishes on this very blessed day, Fr. Chris, Fr. Frank and Fr. Simon🤍

💐🌷🪻Marian Procession - 7th Sunday of Easter🪻🌷💐

“Father, may they all be one.”

As our Easter season draws slowly towards Pentecost, today’s readings remind us of Christ’s deep desire for unity amongst His people. In the Gospel, Jesus prays for His disciples before His Ascension; not for power, glory, or success, but that they may remain close to Him and close to one another.

Today, we gather beneath the loving gaze of Our Blessed Lady for our Marian Procession at St. Cuthbert’s Church. Mary, the Mother of the Church, is the perfect companion for us on the journey of faith. She walked closely with Christ through joy, sorrow, uncertainty and triumph. She continues to lead us always towards her Son.

As we sing Bring Flowers of the Rarest and crown Our Lady with flowers, we are reminded that the greatest offering we can bring before her is not simply blossoms or song, but our prayers, our families, our parish, and our hearts.

Our procession begins today at 13:00 from St. Cuthbert’s Church, Lytham Road, as we process prayerfully along the promenade together, praying a decade of the Rosary. Following this, all are warmly invited to join us for the parish BBQ in the garden.

In a world that can feel divided and restless, there is something deeply beautiful about walking, praying, and sharing fellowship together as one parish family.

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
St. Cuthbert, pray for us.
St. John Vianney, pray for us.

🔔HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION - THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD🔔

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?”

Today, Holy Mother Church celebrates the glorious Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ into Heaven forty days after His Resurrection from the dead. Having conquered sin and death, Christ returns to the Father, not to abandon His people, but to remain with us in a new and deeper way through His Church and the Sacraments.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples their great commission: to go out into the world and proclaim the Good News to all nations. The Ascension is not an ending, but a beginning. The apostles are no longer simply followers: they are now witnesses.

As Christ ascends in glory, our hearts are reminded that Heaven is our true home. Amidst the distractions and burdens of daily life, today’s solemnity calls us to lift our eyes upwards and place our hope in the eternal promises of God.

Today is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass times in the Parish of the Guardian Angels are as follows:

🕧12:00

⛪️ Our Lady of the Assumption
🕜 13:30
🕖 19:00

🕯️Monday 4th May - English Martyrs🕯️

On Monday, we commemorate our faithful brothers and sisters who have gone before us. This memorial is of particular importance to us in the diocese as some were martyred on home territory.

Come and join us on Monday on our pilgrimage from Lancaster Castle at 10:30, sharing in the footsteps of our blessed martyrs. This is followed by Mass celebrated by Bishop Paul.

🐑Good Shepherd Sunday ‘26🐑

This week, Bishop Paul Swarbrick of Lancaster does the talking, and the link to his pastoral letter can be found on our story.

Please do continue to thank good for the good and faithful priests who currently serve us, have gone before us, and those currently discerning a vocation to the priesthood, not least the five young men from the Diocese of Lancaster heading to Valladolid in September later this year.

St. Joseph, pray for us.
St. John Vianney, pray for the us.

⚪️ 3rd Sunday of Easter ⚪️

Yesterday’s Gospel serves as a powerful reminder that wherever we are, whoever we are with, and whatever we face, Jesus meets us on the road.

We are often quick to say, “I can’t feel His presence in my life” or “I do not hear His voice.” Yet even His own disciples, those who had walked so closely with Him, did not recognise Him. After all they had seen, even after the Cross, He stood before them and they did not know Him.

It reminds us that Christ is with us always, even when we do not recognise Him.

We encounter Him in the ordinary and the unexpected: in our hospitals, our schools, our prisons; in the newly born, and in the sick and the dying. He walks with us in every moment of our lives.

And when the disciples finally recognise Him in the breaking of the bread, He disappears. Not because He has left them, but because He is now truly present in a new way.

Lord, we thank you for the gifts of life and faith. Continue to bless us with the grace to recognise your presence and the comfort of knowing that you walk beside us on this pilgrimage of life. Hear our prayers, our sorrows, and our desires. Share our yoke, and bring your peace to those most in need.

St Luke, pray for us.
St Cleopas, pray for us.
St Christopher, pray for us.

Divine Mercy Sunday ‘26

This afternoon, parishioners from all three churches gathered as one family at Our Lady of the Assumption for a Divine Mercy Service. There were appropriate hymns, the opportunities for collective and individual prayer, the veneration of the Divine Mercy painting, and the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This was followed by Mass.

Thanks to all who attended. Thanks to all who keep our churches looking liturgically appropriate. I’m sure you will agree, we are looking beautiful at the moment!

Happy Divine Mercy Sunday🤍

⚪️Divine Mercy Sunday ‘26⚪️

Just imagine. Your closest friends and family tell you ‘Jesus IS risen!’ Conveniently, this came to pass at a time and place where you weren’t there. ‘Of course! Jesus Christ came back to life while I was sitting at my desk at work, and you were all together! Did you manage to get any pictures? Any proof? Next joke!’

How do you think you’d react? The Gospel this Sunday teaches a great lesson about the human condition. Seeing is believing, surely? If we can’t experience it through one of the five senses, it’s obviously not true. We are all Thomas. The story of our salvation can’t be fulfilled without this.

Thomas is honest. He wants to understand, to see, to be sure. And in that honesty, Christ meets him exactly where he is.

“Put your finger here… do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

Jesus does not reject Thomas. He does not turn away. Instead, He offers him mercy. He offers him Himself through touch.

And this is the heart of Divine Mercy Sunday. Not that we have perfect faith, but that Christ meets us in our doubts, our questions, our hesitations, and yet still calls us to believe and join Him on this journey.

“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

We may not see as Thomas saw. But we are invited to trust, to believe, and to receive the mercy that flows from the risen Christ.

Lord, we trust in You.

St. Thomas, pray for us.
St. Faustina, pray for us.

Easter Blessings from Fr. Chris, Fr. Frank and Fr. Simon🙏🤍
