🤍 A very special Saturday for our church family… 🤍

On Saturday, we had the absolute joy of watching our wonderful Youth & Children’s Pastor, Sarah, marry Joel. 💍

For so many of us, Sarah is so much more than our Youth & Children’s Pastor. She’s someone who has loved, encouraged, prayed for and poured into so many of our children, young people and families. She has a beautiful way of making people feel seen, valued and loved, and we are so incredibly thankful for all that she gives to our church family. ❤️

So, to see her standing there on Saturday, surrounded by the people she loves, beginning this new chapter of her life, was incredibly special. There were plenty of happy tears, lots of laughter, and so much love in the room. 🥹❤️

It was a privilege for us as a church family to celebrate Sarah and Joel and to share in such a precious moment in their lives.

Sarah and Joel, we love you both so much. We are so thankful that God brought you together, and we pray that your marriage will always be filled with His presence, His joy and His love. May you continue to grow together, laugh together, support one another and build a beautiful life together. 🙏

🤍 A TRIBUTE TO OUR SENIOR PASTOR, PASTOR TONY 🤍

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that our beloved Senior Pastor, Pastor Tony Oldbury, went home to be with Jesus in the early hours of Monday morning.

For more than 40 years, Pastor Tony faithfully served God and His people, alongside his wife Joyce. Together, they gave their lives to serving the church and the people of Rishton and beyond.

To many, Pastor Tony was their pastor.
To others, he was a friend, a mentor, a counsellor, a prayer warrior or simply the person who was there when they needed someone.

He had an incredible heart for people.

His ministry reached far beyond the walls of Rishton Christian Fellowship. He was passionate about helping those in need and was involved in humanitarian work, including taking practical aid to communities in Eastern Europe. Wherever there was an opportunity to help someone, Pastor Tony was often there.

He didn't simply preach about loving people — he demonstrated it.

Through the years, countless lives have been touched by his preaching, prayers, encouragement, generosity and genuine love for people. Families have been supported, people have been fed, the broken have been encouraged and many have heard the Gospel because of his obedience to God's call.

Pastor Tony was a man who loved Jesus, the Word of God and people.

His passion was always to see people come to know Christ and discover the hope, freedom and salvation found in Him.

Although our hearts are broken, we grieve with the hope that Pastor Tony preached about throughout his life.

He has finished his race.
He has kept the faith.
He is now home with Jesus. 🕊️

We can picture him now, worshipping before his Saviour and King, singing with the angels in the presence of God.

What a wonderful homecoming. ❤️

As a church family, we want to honour the incredible legacy Pastor Tony leaves behind.

We will continue to pray for Joyce, his family, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for everyone who loved him.

Pastor Tony, thank you for faithfully serving our church and our community for so many years.

Thank you for every sermon.
Every prayer.
Every food parcel.
Every journey.
Every act of kindness.
Every word of encouragement.
Every life you touched.

Well done, good and faithful servant.

You have been a faithful shepherd, a true servant of God and a much-loved Senior Pastor.

We will miss you deeply.

💧 Baptism Sunday! 🙏

What a special day we’ve had today as we celebrated our first baptism of the year at Hydro Barn, Clayton-le-Moors.

Rishton Christian Fellowship our church family were able to celebrate together ❤️

Baptism is a beautiful outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus. It represents leaving the old life behind and beginning a new life with Christ. It’s a public declaration of faith — saying, “I belong to Jesus!” ✝️

Jesus said:

“Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:5

What a joy to celebrate this important step of faith today! 🎉💦

💚 A Little Reminder About Our Community Food Bank 💚

Our food bank is run entirely by volunteers from our small church. We are not government funded – every food parcel is made possible through the kindness and generosity of people who donate food or money to help support those in our community.

When we have enough supplies available, we are pleased to offer food parcels to those who need them. Our volunteers give their time to collect, sort, pack, and distribute these parcels.

We have limited storage for food so this limits the amount of parcels we can supply each week so please bare with us.

If you need a food parcel, please message us to book in first. This helps us manage our supplies and ensure we have a parcel available for you.

Food parcel collections will now take place at:
📅 Wednesdays at 7:15pm
📅 Sundays at 10:15am

If you need a food parcel, we will always do our best to help where we can. In return, we kindly ask for a little patience, understanding, and courtesy. A simple "please" and "thank you" means a great deal to our volunteers, who give their time freely to support others.

We also ask that our collection times are respected. Many of our volunteers have jobs, families, and other commitments. If you are unable to collect your parcel at the arranged time, please send us a message as soon as possible so that we are not left waiting.

Thank you to everyone who continues to donate, volunteer, and support our food bank. Your kindness makes a real difference to people in our community. ❤️

Important Notice

Unfortunately, RIOT Kids will be closed tonight due to the extreme heat.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety and wellbeing of the children is our top priority, and we feel this is the most appropriate decision.

Many schools and children's settings across the UK have also adjusted opening or closed during the current extreme heat conditions to keep children safe.

🌟 Meet Our New Pastors – Allen & Cherie Myers 🌟
What a blessing it is to officially welcome Allen and Cherie Myers into this new season of leadership with us!

Family is at the heart of who they are. Together they are proud parents to six children and grandparents to four grandchildren, and their love for God and people shines through in everything they do.

Allen has a real passion for worship and music. He faithfully leads worship each week and is a gifted musician, playing both the guitar and piano. His heart for drawing people closer to God through worship is evident every time he serves.
Cherie has a wonderful gift for caring, encouraging and nurturing others. She faithfully plans and helps run our Toddler Group and Children's Club each week, investing in the lives of our youngest generation and supporting families in our community.

Together, Allen and Cherie are deeply involved in so many areas of church life. They support and encourage our youth, help lead community activities, and play a key role in running the Food Bank, serving those who need practical support and a helping hand.

Although they have only been with us for half a week as pastors, they are already making a meaningful impact in our church and wider community. Their servant hearts, genuine kindness, and commitment to sharing God's love are inspiring to see.

Please continue to pray for Allen and Cherie as they step into this exciting new chapter. We are grateful for their leadership, their dedication, and the love they show to everyone they meet.

Today was a truly special day in the life of our church as we celebrated the passing of the baton from Tony and Joyce Oldbury to Allen and Cherie Myers.

After many years of faithful service, leadership, and love poured into this church family, we honoured Tony and Joyce and gave thanks to God for their dedication and commitment to His calling. Their legacy of faith, discipleship, and servant-hearted leadership will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.

We also joyfully commissioned and installed Allen Myers as Pastor, praying God's blessing, wisdom, and anointing upon both Allen and Cherie as they step into this new season of ministry. We are excited for all that God has planned for the future and look forward to walking together as a church family.

As one season transitions into another, we are reminded that God remains faithful, leading His church from generation to generation.

"One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts." — Psalm 145:4
