🧸 BIG NEWS! The Big Local Community Play Group is back this week and it's Free ! 🧸

We have missed everyone so much over the break, and we cannot wait to welcome our little adventurers back for more fun, games, and laughter at The Big Local Community Shop Play Group.

🗓️ Re-opening date: Monday, 7th September
⏰ Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
📍 Location: St Oswald's Community Hall. Fecitt Brow, Blackburn
👶 Ages: 0 to 4 years old
💰 Cost: FREE (includes refreshments and toast for the children!)

Whether you are a returning regular or joining them for the very first time, everyone is welcome.
Come along for a chat, a cuppa, and plenty of playtime for the kids.

It is brilliant to see grassroots organisations collaborating for public safety. The Big Local Community Shop, Shad Chefs - The Council Estate Food Connoisseurs and the award-winning The JJeffect CIC all working together.

​We are proud to work alongside The Big Local Community Shop, Shad Chefs, and the award-winning JJ Effect CIC to make our streets safer for everyone.

​If you or someone you know is carrying a weapon or has bladed articles at home, please take this opportunity to safely and anonymously dispose of them with zero judgment.

​📍 Location: The Big Local Community Shop

⏰ Amnesty Bin Hours: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

​Since launching this initiative, this partnership has taken countless knives off the streets of Blackburn and facilitated over 20 Knife Crime Awareness sessions across Blackburn with Darwen. Every blade turned in is a potential life saved.

📢 St Oswald’s Community Hall is OPEN for Bookings! 📢

We want to reassure our local community that our hall is still fully owned and operated by the Parochial Church Council (PCC).

Please note that the sale of the vicarage does not affect the ownership of the Community Hall in any way.
Even though church services are paused at this time, the community hall remains open, active, and ready for you.

🍳 Exciting News!We now have amazing new kitchen facilities ready for your events!
Our great space is perfect for:
🎈 Children's birthday parties
🧘 Fitness classes and clubs
🤝 Community meetings

💧 £300 oil heating support available

If you live in Blackburn with Darwen, rely on oil for heating, and are struggling with costs, you could be eligible for a £300 one-off payment through the Government’s Crisis and Resilience Fund.

You may qualify if you:

✅ Are off the gas grid
✅ Can’t afford an oil refill (quote/invoice needed)
✅ Are on a low income, receive Universal Credit or a disability benefit
