MAKE HIM YOUR FOCUS

๐Ÿ“– Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.... (Hebrews 12:2).

๐Ÿ‘ค PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

One of the most important disciplines in the Christian life is maintaining your focus on the Lord Jesus Christ. The world is filled with distractions, pressures, opinions, and circumstances designed to shift your attention away from Him and from His Word. But the Spirit, through the Scriptures, admonishes us to remain steadfast and undistracted.

The Passion Translation of 2 Timothy 2:8 says, โ€œโ€ฆmake Jesus, the Anointed One, your focus in life and ministryโ€ฆ.โ€ Did you notice that? The Lord isnโ€™t to be part of your focus but your entire focus. Your thoughts, pursuits, decisions, energies, and aspirations must all be centred on Him and His divine purpose for your life.

Hebrews 12:2 (TPT) shows us the example of the Lordโ€™s own focus: โ€œ...His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God.โ€ Blessed thought! In the midst of pain, humiliation, rejection and shame, He looked beyond the suffering and fixed His gaze on the glorious outcome. He saw the harvestโ€”you!

He saw the glory that would come through His obedience and He stayed focused until He fulfilled His mission completely. This is the mindset you must have. Refuse to be swayed by challenges, emotions, pressures, or temporary setbacks in expressing your love for the Lord. Keep your attention on Him and on the things Heโ€™s called you to do.

Focus gives strength, direction, and endurance. When your eyes are fixed on the Lord and your heart anchored on His Word, youโ€™ll walk in victory consistently. Thatโ€™s the instruction God gave to Joshua: โ€œDo not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night.... Then you will be prosperous and successfulโ€ (Joshua 1:8 NIV).

Notice the connection between focus and success. Success in Godโ€™s Kingdom is not accidental. It comes from staying on the Word, remaining focused on the Lord, and living in His Word and His purpose for your life. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for your Word that keeps me steadfast, focused and established in your perfect will. My gaze is fixed on you, and my heart is anchored in your truth. I refuse distractions and remain unwavering in the path youโ€™ve ordained for me. I walk in continual victory, prosperity and success, as I live according to your Word, in Jesusโ€™ Name. Amen.

Hebrews 12:2 AMPC; Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

TAKE YOUR PLACE AND EXERCISE DOMINION

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

Some have queried that if Jesus was truly Lord over all and over everything happening in the world, then why are things in disarray? Yes, Heโ€™s Lord; Heโ€™s seated far above all principality and power. But you must understand your place in His reign and in His lordship: He reigns through you. Youโ€™re His instrument of dominion.

Therefore, one of the reasons things are in disarray today isnโ€™t because Christ lacks authority but because those who are to act in His stead havenโ€™t understood or exercised that authority. Thatโ€™s why the Word is coming to you even now. Thatโ€™s why youโ€™re being taught. Youโ€™re the one called to reign in His stead.

Youโ€™re the one to dominate this world and tame circumstances to conform to the perfect will of God. Youโ€™ve received abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness; that qualifies you for a life of dominion. You must consciously use the authority given to you in the Name of Jesus. When situations arise, donโ€™t plead, donโ€™t beg, donโ€™t cower; take charge. Enforce the will of God.

The Lord Jesus is running the universe, yes; from galaxies to governments, nothing is exempt from His rule. But He administers His dominion through His Church. That means wherever you are, His authority is to be expressed through you. If things are out of order, you donโ€™t watch them deteriorate; you take action. You speak and enforce Godโ€™s righteousness.

Everything in life has intelligence, and has been commanded to hear and obey Jesus (Matthew 17:5), and by extension, you because youโ€™re one with Him. When you speak, everything in life, living or non-living, complies because you function in the Name of Jesus, in His dominion and authority. Hallelujah!

He empowered you to rule your world and rule the world in His Name. He said in John 20:21, โ€œโ€ฆas my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.โ€ Then in Matthew 28:18, He said, โ€œโ€ฆAll power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.โ€ Then He charged us, on account of His dominion and authority, to disciple the nations and make the world a better place (Matthew 28:19-20). Therefore, act accordingly; take your place and exercise your dominion in Christ.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness that Iโ€™ve received in Christ. I walk in the consciousness of my authority and exercise dominion in every sphere of life. I enforce your will in my environment, bringing order, righteousness, and peace, in Jesusโ€™ Name. Amen.

THE RAPTURE IS REAL AND IMMINENT

๐Ÿ“– Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51).

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME DSc. DSc. DD.

Some say they donโ€™t believe in the Rapture of the Church. But does their unbelief change anything? No! Truth isnโ€™t established by opinion; itโ€™s established by the Word. Whether one believes it or not, the Word of God is clear: the Rapture will happen, and very soon for that matter.

The Apostle Paul calls it a mystery: 1 Corinthians 15:52, โ€œIn a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.โ€ Not everyone will die, but all will be changed. The dead in Christ will be raised first, and those who are alive will be transformed.

Paul explains further in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, โ€œFor the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.โ€ The underlined expression, โ€œcaught upโ€ is where the term โ€œraptureโ€ comes from.

You may not find the word โ€œraptureโ€ in the Bible but you find its meaning clearly revealed. Weโ€™ll be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Consider also the expression, โ€œโ€ฆthem also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with himโ€ (1 Thessalonians 4:14). Those who have died in Christ are not lost; they will be part of this glorious event.

This is not a new idea or a false hope; itโ€™s foundational to the Christian faith. Paul makes it clear that if the dead do not rise, then our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:17-19). But Christ is risen, and because He lives, this hope is certain. Donโ€™t be moved by contrary opinions or swayed by those who deny the reality of the Rapture. The Lord Jesus isnโ€™t only coming again; Heโ€™s coming soon.

Any time now, the trumpet will sound. The voice of the archangel will be heard. And we shall be caught up. This is our blessed hope. Have the Rapture in view; prepare yourself and rejoice in the certainty of its imminence.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the certainty of your Word. My heart rejoices at the truth of Christโ€™s imminent return. Therefore, I live with expectation, faith and readiness, knowing that Iโ€™ll be caught up to meet Him in the air. I remain steadfast, unshaken and full of joy, living for you, in Jesusโ€™ Name. Amen.

1 Corinthians 15:17-20 KJV; And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. [18] Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. [19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. [20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

โœจRHAPSODY OF REALITIES, DAILY DEVOTIONAL, SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST 2026. PASTOR CHRISโœจ

TOPIC โœจ YOUR MENTAL LIBRARY โœจ

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? (Matthew 9:4).

Did you know that we have far more responsibility for our destiny than most people realize? What happens in your life has a lot to do with youโ€”your decisions, your words, your thoughts, and the structure of your mind. Much of what your life turns out to be is the making of your mind.

The Lord Jesus posed a striking question in our opening scripture: โ€œWhy do you reason the way you do?โ€ That question goes to the root of many peopleโ€™s challenges. Their reasoning is their undoing. You reason the way you do because of the information youโ€™ve received over time. Thatโ€™s your mental libraryโ€”the โ€œbooksโ€ on the shelf of your mind.

The thoughts youโ€™ve imbibed, the things youโ€™ve listened to, and the ideas youโ€™ve accepted are what shaped your life. Youโ€™re the product of the information youโ€™ve taken in. You canโ€™t think beyond what youโ€™ve consistently heard and meditated on. This is why meditating on the Word is vital for every Christian. Aside from the refinement and elevation of your mind, it results in unending, undeniable prosperity and good success (read Joshua 1:8 AMPC, 1 Timothy 4:15 AMPC).

Some say they listen to the Word, but without meditation, they neutralise its impact with contrary thoughts and influences. The Lord Jesus said people make the Word of God of none effect through their traditions (Mark 7:13); beliefs and ideas handed down from society, upbringing, and environment. But meditation seasons and synchronises your mind with the Word.

So, be deliberate about what you allow into your mind, your mental library. Youโ€™re the character of your thoughts: Proverbs 23:7, โ€œFor as he thinketh in his heart, so is heโ€ฆ.โ€ Therefore, fill your heart with the Word until it becomes the dominant force in your thinking. Let it shape your reasoning, your responses, and your worldview. Donโ€™t leave your mind to chance; build it with the Word.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your Word that renews my mind and shapes my life. I guard my thoughts and give myself to the Word, allowing it to dominate my thinking and guide my decisions. I reject every influence that contradicts your truth; I walk in wisdom, and my life produces results that glorify you, in Jesusโ€™ Name. Amen.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
