Today only (Sunday 6th October), until just after 7pm, we welcome a group of Christians from the Holy Land who have brought a number of wonderful handmade olivewood-crafted gifts for sale inside the church, here in Bishop's Stortford. Given the many difficulties that this minority community is experiencing at the moment in this troubled part of the world, we encourage you to come and support them in whatever way you can. In exchange for our prayers and financial support, we can acquire a lovely keepsake or religious item for our homes - so do this afternoon or before or after 6pm Mass to take a look...

Dear all, you are warmly invited to a special one-off evening on Monday 7th October at 7.30pm in the Windhill Churches Centre, where we welcome Meninadança. It's an organisation which works with street girls in Brazil and rescues them from exploitation, reminding them of their true worth through dance. Three of these rescued girls will be presenting a dance musical and it will be followed by questions, as well as some time for prayerful reflection. All are welcome, but - as a guide - we'd recommend this evening for those 16+ - Prepare to be inspired! For more details, contact: [email protected]

Please join us for the Parish Sycamore course which we are running over 4 weeks in Lent in the St Joseph’s hall in the Windhill Churches Centre. It is an informal course that explores key themes of our Christian Faith and is a great way to prepare for Easter. Each session involves refreshments, a short film and some time for discussion. There’s no pressure. You can be yourself without any fear of being judged. We will be exploring the theme "Living the Christian Faith in the World" on the Mondays of March, 11th, 18th and 25th. You can join for
one session or all of them. We will start at 8pm and be finished by 9:30pm. If you have any questions please contact David by email on [email protected]

Congratulations to Reverends Marco Lazzaron (second from left) and Patrick van der Vorst (second from right) who were ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, 24 June at Westminster Cathedral. Fr Patrick spent several weeks with us last summer on a placement as a deacon, while Fr Marco will replace Fr Antonio as our assistant priest in September.

Social media should not “nourish hate speech, fake news, deepfakes,” but “nourish the truth, love and compassion.” Read the Vatican document on socialmedia.

Last week the Vatican Dicastery for Communication issued a document called Towards Full Presence. A Pastoral Reflection on Engagement with Social Media. The Prefect of the Congregation, Paolo Ruffini, said that social media is invaluable for being present in today’s rapidly evolving world. However...
