⚽⚽⚽ ATTENTION! You and yours are invited to watch the first England match with others next week to raise money for a good cause! Introducing WORLD CUP FOR A CAUSE! ⚽⚽⚽

shenleycommunitychurch.org.uk/cfac

WHAT: A community screening of the first England game next Wednesday. Family friendly, alcohol free, meaning all the togetherness of a pub big screen but open to all!

WHEN: Wednesday 17th June. Doors open 8pm for kid-friendly World Cup fun (think face painting, a flags quiz, other stuff!). 9pm kick off. Yep, it's late but if you're watching it anyway, we might as well come together!

WHERE: Shenley Court Hall - 200 Green Meadow Rd, B294ED.

WHY? Nothing has the power to bring people together under the flag than England in a world cup! In a time of division, we've got to take any opportunity to get together. PLUS the charity side of it means we can do something good.

WHAT CHARITY? The £5 per household fee will all go to the local Women's Aid. Ever heard those hideous stats about domestic violence during England games? This is our chance to flip it and do something small together to break that link.

Book your household in ASAP at shenleycommunitychurch.org.uk/cfac

Did you know Jesus spent more time talking about money than he did talking about heaven & hell put together?

Maybe cos he knows everyone of us has to think about money every single day, in one way or another.

Let's look at what he says and why it's good news, whatever our bank balance.

GOD & MONEY kicks off this Sunday, exploring "Why teach about money?".

After that, sessions on:

Spending.
Giving.
Saving.
Receiving.
Trusting.

Congrats to local friends who completed the Great Birmingham Run today!

The Bible compares faith to running a race LOADS.

We spent the morning thinking about that.

We don’t know of a better illustration of what being a Christian is, than this video of Derek.

Derek runs.

Derek falls.

Derek limps.

We are all Derek.

Derek is run to by his father who loves him. He’s not ashamed of him. He carries him home.

God is that father. We can all be Derek.

"I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:18

ALL AGE SUNDAY & COMMUNITY MEAL!

Once a month, our gathering is EVEN MORE aimed at being for ALL AGES than usual (and we're normally pretty kid-friendly!).

This Sunday that'll look like all the same elements (Bible, prayer, worship, community) but with dialled up interaction, chance for movement around the room, creativity (paint galore this week) and we finish it all off with a big 'bring something along' Community Meal after.

Whether you're a kid or adult, a reader or a roamer, a listener or a livewire, you and yours are welcome in this space.

One passion of the early church is they ā€œdevoted themselves to the Apostles’ teachingā€. Teaching fuels and forms church community.

We’ve just finished our Becoming teaching series.
Big thanks to James, Annabel, Mike, Kirsty, Blake & Joel who joined Rich in helping us explore becoming…

We loved being joined by Michael last month to hear some of this astonishing story. From aging out of care into he**in use on the street to a life filled with hope and purpose because of Jesus.

As Michael said on the night, "Jesus was homeless, abandoned and rejected. He gets it. Why wouldn't I follow a God like that?"

The Birmingham Mail picked up the story - the full version's behind a paywall but this summary is well worth a quick read.

Michael McMillan was born in Dundee and grew up in children's care homes. At 16, he found himself homeless on the streets of Scotland during the 1980s, taking substances to get through the day. Now he has a new life in Birmingham helping others
