As communities across our region face the impact of devastating fires, the Bishops of Birmingham and Aston pray for all affected.

“We are deeply saddened by the fires that have affected communities across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.

“We hold in our prayers those who have seen their homes damaged or destroyed, those who have been evacuated, and all who are frightened by the fires and smoke.

“We give thanks for the emergency services who are working tirelessly to keep people safe, and for the neighbours and communities who are looking out for one another.

“In times like this, we are reminded how much we depend on one another. Our prayer is that those who are frightened or grieving will know the strength and kindness of those around them.”

Pictured with some of our amazing cadets and volunteers is our 2025 Burgee Efficiency Award!

Even though a majority of cadets are currently away on school holiday / other sea cadet courses, we felt it was important to present to show our gratitude to all that allowed us to achieve this fantastic recognition. 🥇 👏

The Burgee is the highest annual award a Sea Cadet Unit can receive, recognising excellence in cadet training, qualifications, opportunities, experiences, leadership, safety, and the dedication of the entire unit.
