A student of the HSBT Hifz Department who successfully completed Hifz at the department now receives ijazah in Quran recitation from an Egyptian Shaykh, Shaykh Ahmad Khafagi
Alhamdulillah witnessing the sanad / Ijaza ceremony of Shaykh Hafiz Sajid Sabir, who completed his Quran memorisation back in 2015 and is a teacher at the Masjid.
An Ijaza is when a Quran reciter reads the whole Quran to the highest standard by memory to a Shaikh who read in a similarly approved standard to his Shaikh and so on in an unbroken chain of transmission going back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Himself. This links the holder of the Ijaza in a chain back to the Prophet ﷺ and is the yardstick or standard measure of a qualified reciter.
He was awarded an Ijaza in Rawayat Hafs An Asim by the esteemed Qari Shaikh Ahmad Khafagi of Egypt who is a Qari of the 7 Qiraa'aats and a leading student of Shaikh Ahmad Eisa Al Ma'saraawi, the former head Qari of Egypt.
Our congratulations to Hafiz Sajid, his parents and entire family & pray Allah ﷻ protect and bless him always and may his services as a servant of the Devine book of Allah ﷻ elevate his rank always and keep him blessed.
It was an immensely proud and emotional moment for all of us here at the department especially his Hifz teacher Hafiz Muhammad Azam who taught him the memorisation to then witness another blessed achievement of his student receiving the Ijazah sanad authorising him to be a young Hafiz and Qari reciting the beautiful words of Allah ﷻ in a melodious voice.
Hafiz Sajid not only has he become a hifz teacher at the masjid and within the space of 3 years that he has taught hifz has he produced huffaaz but most of us here in the department recall his childhood at the masjid. We have seen him grow up in front of our eyes, then become a Hafiz, lead taraweeh prayers regularly, mature and become a hifz teacher, mentor and coach British students who also now lead taraweeh prayers.
During the last year he has been working on his Ijaza with Shaikh Ahmad Khafagi and alhmadullilah successfully acquired it. Hafiz Sajid's motivation in developing himself is so as to support and develop others therefore leading by example. He is now an experienced Hifz teacher producing some of the best huffaaz and Qaris of the future inshAllah. An example of home grown talent nurturing further talent.
The blessed seed of the Qur'an is now blossoming in the hearts of so many of our students and teachers alhmadulllah. We thank the Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust for the pioneering work lead by Hazrat Sahibzada Pir Sultan Niaz ul Hassan Qadri Sahib, allowing the team at the HSBT Hifz Department supervised by Hafiz Muhammad Arif Sahib to accomplish and to go from strength to strength.
Our sincere thanks to As-Shaikh Ahmad Khafagi who was one of the first teachers to join the Masjid from Egypt and hand picked by Shaikh Ahmad Ma'saraawi, for his true khidma of Qur'an by teaching and empowering British Qur'anic talent to develop further by supporting huffaaz to achieve Ijaza level and connecting such talent with a chain of transmission going back to the Prophet ﷺ .
We are truly indebted to Shaykh Khafagi for his sincere efforts in supporting the HSBT Hifz Department and the their Quran educational projects since 1993.
