As the world looks ahead to the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐅𝐈𝐅𝐀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩, projections suggest roughly 𝟏.𝟐–𝟏.𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 international visitors spread across 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, the 𝐔𝐒𝐀, 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 and 𝐌𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐜𝐨, over several weeks and across 𝟏𝟔 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.

Yet this year’s 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐣 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟏.𝟓 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 from outside Saudi Arabia alone, with 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟐 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝟑.𝟏 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧, all converging on a relatively small area around 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐚𝐡, 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝐌𝐮𝐳𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐡 and 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐭 within just a few days.

𝐼𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑡.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝐶𝑢𝑝 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑐𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑠𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑚𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑖𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠, 𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠, 𝑎𝑖𝑟𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘𝑠. 𝐻𝑎𝑗𝑗, 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑑, 𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑎 𝑠𝑖𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑟 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒 𝑠𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑡, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠.

At times, we forget to give the 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, its 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬, and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 of 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 and 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫. Managing 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 and 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 for over one and a half million international pilgrims in such a short period is an extraordinary logistical achievement.

But 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐣 is also a beautiful example of the 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐔𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐡 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞, 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞. 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐬, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭, 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡. Their efforts often go unnoticed, yet they are indispensable to the smooth running of Hajj.

𝐼𝑛 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠, 𝐻𝑎𝑗𝑗 𝑑𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑠 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠, 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝑎 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑜𝑛 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑒. 𝑀𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑖𝑙𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑚𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎 𝑣𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑚𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑐𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚.

𝑁𝑜 𝑠𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚 𝑖𝑠 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑒𝑐𝑡, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑟𝑜𝑜𝑚 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡. 𝐻𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑙 𝑖𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑚𝑎𝑗𝑜𝑟 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠.

𝐻𝑎𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓𝑓 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑎𝑢𝑑𝑖 𝑔𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑠, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐻𝑎𝑗𝑗 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑎𝑓𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟. 𝐼𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑙𝑦 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑢𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡ℎ.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭,
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐓𝐚𝐣𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐐𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭

When it comes to teaching the Qur’an, the foundation lies in correct pronunciation, and that starts with how we teach the Arabic letters. Unfortunately, the most common method used today is outdated and ineffective.

𝐖𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭:
“𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐟, 𝐁𝐚𝐚, 𝐓𝐚𝐚, 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐚…”

This sequence may seem familiar and structured, but 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞. It teaches children 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 — 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬.

The result? Students begin Qur’an recitation with poor articulation, 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐣 (letter points), and 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐭 (letter qualities).

𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑖𝑥𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑏𝑎𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑎𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑡.

𝑀𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑄𝑎𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑟 𝑛𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑒𝑑𝑎𝑔𝑜𝑔𝑦 𝑜𝑟 𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑑𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡.

Aside from some changes in colour, layout, or font — the core teaching method remains the same: outdated and ineffective.

These 𝐐𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, which leaves both learners and teachers struggling to build solid foundations in tajweed and correct pronunciation.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐓𝐚𝐣𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐐𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐚

The Samanudi Tajweed Qaida is a game-changer. It’s the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 to be carefully 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 of the Arabic language, not the alphabetical order. It introduces letters based on:

* 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐣 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 (where sounds originate in the mouth and throat)
* 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐭 (the characteristics of each letter, made easy to grasp)
* 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜 that helps learners retain and apply knowledge

And that’s just the beginning.

Alhamdulillah, the 1-Day Intensive on Islamic Inheritance Law has now been completed.

We ask Allah ﷻ to make this gathering a source of beneficial knowledge, righteous action, and lasting reward for everyone who attended. The laws of inheritance are among the most important aspects of Islamic knowledge, preserving justice, protecting family ties, and ensuring that the rights ordained by Allah are fulfilled.

A heartfelt thank you to Shaykh Zein Hud Al Azhari for sharing his time, knowledge, and guidance. May Allah reward him abundantly for teaching this vital subject and place it amongst his ongoing deeds that continue to benefit others.

O Allah, on this blessed night of Laylatul Qadr, we turn to You with humble hearts. Ya Rabb, forgive our sins, the ones we remember and the ones we have forgotten. Purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and make us among those who are written among the forgiven.

O Allah, shower Your mercy upon us and our families. Protect us from every form of harm, fitnah, and evil eye. Grant us peace in our hearts, barakah in our homes, and success in both this life and the Hereafter.
Ya Allah, accept our fasting, our prayers, our duʿā, and every act of worship we have done in this blessed month. Do not let Ramadan leave us except that You have forgiven us, elevated our ranks, and written us among the people of Jannah.

Grant relief to those who are suffering, heal those who are ill, guide those who are lost, and unite our hearts upon goodness and truth.

O Allah, bless and reward every person who has donated to support Darul Qurra and the students of knowledge. Place barakah in their wealth, their families, and their lives.

Accept their charity as a means of ongoing reward for them in this life and the next. Make their contributions a source of spreading Your Book and preserving the Qur’an in the hearts of students. Grant them a share in every letter that is recited, memorised, and taught through their support.

Ramadan is all about reflection, sacrifice, and giving. As we wrap up the first week, I’m reaching out again to ask for your support for Darul Qurra.

This place is one of the few institutes that provides students of knowledge the chance to study totally free of charge—and it’s something we desperately need to keep going. The Waqf property project is a big part of making sure this continues.
