Church of The Ascension, Stirchley

Church of The Ascension, Stirchley The Ascension is the Church of England (Anglican) parish church for Stirchley. We also keep many midweek feasts.

Visit our website www.ascensionstirchley.com and you will get a flavour of this friendly church set in a Birmingham suburban housing estate only a short distance from Cannon Hill Park. Visitors often comment on the beauty of the building, its feeling of space and light, and its prayerful atmosphere. Our services are orderly but friendly modern catholic worship, with incense and vestments, our theology liberal, and our welcome sincere. Our main services are masses at 9 am and 10.15 am on Sunday (the later service being sung and with a sermon), also at 10.15 am on Thursday morning. Services are Common Worship Order One (modern language) We use modern musical settings of the Eucharist, and Hymns Old & New, so our music can be traditional or more modern. We also generally sing The Angelus at our main service on Sunday. There is a more informal Family Service at 12 noon once per month. After our main Sunday service we invite you to coffee and sometimes other refreshments. Other activities include the Place of Welcome on Thursday lunchtimes, Youth Zone on Friday evenings in term-time, and the 'Natter Club' for the over-50s on alternate Thursdays. We support the Diocesan 3D course (Developing Discipleship).
