When we take the bread and wine in communion, we not only remember that Jesus died in our place, we are acutely reminded of what unconditional, self-sacrificing, intentional love looks like.
Jesus’ love resulted in action, not just words - it had legs on it!
But that love came at a high price, it took Him to the cross and it cost Him everything …

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave His Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” John 3:16 (The Message)

Zacchaeus was willing to part with his wealth because he discovered something far better.

When Jesus stepped into Zacchaeus's life, everything shifted. He didn't just say he believed; his entire relationship with money, status, and his local community was completely turned upside down. He gave away a quarter of his wealth and committed to paying back anyone he had defrauded four times over.

True transformation is never purely private, it always overflows into practical justice and generosity toward the people around us.

"But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, 'Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.'" Luke 19:8 (NIVUK)

It was wonderful to be able to host the Churches Together in Billericay AGM & Celebration last night. God is doing something new in our town, and the church leaders are bringing the churches together to share Jesus in our community.
