Since launching our Mission, Vision and Values for Highway we have been doing a series on our values. So far we have covered Love, Faith, Hope, Joy, Authenticity, Generosity, Simplicity and now Kindness.

It was great to hear from Sheila last Sunday as she encouraged us to reflect upon Kindness together. Here are some of the key points she shared:

Jeremiah 9:24 - "but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord.

God delights in kindness and as we choose to be kind, we reflect the heart of God.

Kindness costs - the ultimate example of kindness is when God gave up His Son to die a horrific death for us on the cross.

Choosing kindness is an expression of our love for God, His Holy Spirit empowers us to be kind.

Love is kind - kindness is a spiritual weapon that deflects the arrows of Satan.

Kindness is God's design for us - when we choose kindness we have peace in our hearts.

Our kindness affects the next generation - are we being good role models for our children and young people?

There were some great questions for us to chat about in our groups. One in particular we might like to keep thinking about is where we can see examples of kindness being shown by God or by people in the Bible. As Sheila said, as we take time to ponder kindness, it leads our hearts to repentance and also fills us with gratitude, inspiring us to follow the prompts of the Holy Spirit to be kind in our everyday lives.

Thank you so much Sheila for your message.

On Sunday we have our Highway Together in the hall. Sheila will be sharing a message on our value of Kindness and there will be a group for children aged 3-10 years.

Don't forget the clocks change this weekend and if you or your children would like to be part of the dance for the Easter celebration, there will be a short rehearsal straight after the service in the Committee Room.

About us

Highway Christian Church is a community of believers in Jesus who desire for God to be glorified in this region. We meet weekly in small home expressions from Bicester to Steeple Claydon and other surrounding villages, as well as gathering corporately once a month for worship, teaching, and celebration at the Marsh Gibbon Village Hall. If you’re new or interested, contact our office for more information or turn up at one of our monthly gatherings - you’d be most welcome!
