According to the BBC news yesterday, the most common type of plastic waste comes from fruit and vegetables !! 🤬🌽 🍎

Following on from a recent survey The Independent wrote “Every Day Plastics estimate that 13 billion pieces of plastic packaging from fruit and vegetables alone is being discarded by UK households each year. The survey highlighted that Tesco and Sainsbury’s together accounted for almost half (46 per cent) of the fruit and vegetable packaging counted”

Another reason to shop at Bewdley Farm Shop - we try really hard to buy as little prepackaged produce as possible. We don’t use plastic bags. We still use traditional brown paper bags. We are trying to do our best. Sad to see that those Multi Million pound businesses aren’t as bothered as a small business. They should be ashamed if these statistics are true 😢

1 WEEK TILL OUR SHOW CLOSES!!!! Don't forget this is fundraiser for our dogs so EVERY entry helps.... if all of the 226 dogs rehomed last year entered one single photo then we would have £452!!

So far we have raised £376 and there are still classes with less than 10 entries HOPEFULLY we will have a mountain of entries this week before we close!!!

SARA Wyre Forest Station's recruitment window is now open until Friday 31st January.

If you are highly motivated and committed to challenging yourself to be part of our professional volunteer search & rescue team in 2025, then we are interested in hearing from you. You'll need to be available for training on Thursday evenings and demonstrate the commitment required to reach the high standards of training and skills expected for this professional role.

You'll also need to be a dedicated, resilient, trustworthy, team player who is looking to undertake CPD across a wide range of skills and throughout your membership and a willingness to attend training, fundraising and call outs regularly.

Being a member of SARA is a big commitment and although we all have jobs, families and personal lives it is important to consider if you have the time to commit before applying as we are looking for people who are keen to join as long term members due to the training required. If you do have the time, this could be the best decision of your life.
