Bewcastle House of Prayer

Bewcastle House of Prayer a becoming… an open, sustainable, land-based house of prayer deep in the English Borders of north Cumbria,

There is an urgent need to respond with a positive alternative to the madness that seems to be driving the direction of the 'developed' world. This counts as much for the Church as it does the rest of society. Where is there any gentleness, integrity, stillness, calm reflection, sacrificial love either towards people or creation in our 'developed' systems of society? Even the agenda of the local c

hurch is dictated by financial considerations. So we turn to the Gospels of Christ and the life of the 'early' church, including the indigenous Anglo-Saxon church of northern England, which cradled Christianity in these lands, for an alternative vision. Our vision, then, grows out of this Trinitarian understanding of the communal God of love, who became one of us to draw us back into a right relationship with Himself and the rest of Creation, of which we are an intimate part.
