Quaker worship includes silence, simplicity and occasional spoken ministry, all creating space for depth.

Sunday is the Winter Solstice , when our beautiful Earth stands still and day and night are equal . Our Ancestors used this time to reflect on the year just gone and looked forward to the increasing daylight and the eventual warmth of Spring. That miraculous time when new life bursts forth 🌱
Friends in our Coming Together Session this Sunday, after our Shared Lunch, let us too reflect on the past year and then with hope and love reflect on the year to come 🙏🏼💕

At this time of year, people are often curious about ‘what Quakers do at Christmas’ 🎄This blog is a helpful articulation of values and viewpoints, clearly reflecting the variety that exists within the wider Quaker community 🙏🏼💕

Gill Sewell reflects on the Quaker tradition of not marking 'times and seasons' and finding the holy in the every day.

Peter Robinson writes:-
On a recent visit to Skidby Primary School, A child asked, 'Why does it say 'QUAKER on my porridge?' I replied, ‘I don’t know the answer to your question. I think I’ll check it out later’.

Meanwhile, a teacher at the back was searching for the answer with Google on his phone. He then read aloud, -
'Quaker Oats is named after the Quakers because the company's founders wanted to associate their product with the values of integrity, honesty, and purity that they saw as characteristic of the Quaker people. The name was chosen in the late 19th century to symbolize good quality and honest value, with the first trademark registered in 1877.'

I like porridge, but I like the Quaker values described here, more! 🙂
