Theme: Fully Dedicated to God

Main Bible Text: Colossians 3:17
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (KJV)

Teaching Goal:

At the end of this Bible study, believers should:

• Understand what it means to live a life fully dedicated to God
• Learn how to honour God in words and actions
• Develop a lifestyle of gratitude and obedience
• Recognise that Christianity affects every area of life.

Introduction:

Christianity is not limited to church attendance or occasional prayer. It is a complete way of life. God requires total commitment from His children.

This passage teaches that everything we do, whether in words, actions, or decisions, must reflect Jesus Christ. A truly dedicated believer does not separate spiritual life from daily life. Everything belongs to God.

Icebreaker Questions:

• What does it mean to be fully dedicated to something
• Are there areas of your life you find difficult to surrender to God
• Do you think God is interested in your daily activities

1. Whatsoever Ye Do; Total Life Commitment.

Colossians 3:17
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed…”

Explanation: God is concerned about every aspect of our lives, including the smallest daily activities.

Key Lessons
• Christianity covers every part of life
• There is no area outside God’s control
• God cares about your thoughts, words, and actions

1 Corinthians 10:31:
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Application: Before doing anything, ask yourself whether it will glorify God.

2. In Word or Deed Our Speech and Actions

Colossians 3:17
“…in word or deed…”

Explanation: Our dedication to God must be seen in both what we say and what we do.

Key Lessons
• Words have the power to build or destroy
• Actions reveal true character
• God expects consistency between what we say and what we do.

James 1:22:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Ephesians 4:29
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying…”

Application: Let your speech and actions reflect Christ at all times.

3. Do All in the Name of the Lord Jesus; Living for Christ

Colossians 3:17
“…do all in the name of the Lord Jesus…”

Explanation: To act in the name of Jesus means to live under His authority and represent Him in all areas of life.

Key Lessons
• You represent Jesus wherever you go
• Your life should reflect Christ
• You are accountable to Him

2 Corinthians 5:20:
“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ…”

Application: Live daily with the awareness that you represent Jesus.

4. A Life of Gratitude

Colossians 3:17
“…giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Explanation: A fully dedicated life is characterised by thanksgiving.

Key Lessons
• Gratitude reflects trust in God
• Thankfulness pleases God
• It shifts focus from problems to God

1 Thessalonians 5:18
“In every thing give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Cultivate the habit of thanking God in all circumstances.

5. Case Study: Joseph A Life Fully Dedicated to God

Genesis 39:2–6:
“And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man… and his master saw that the LORD was with him… and he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand…”

Joseph showed exceptional dedication. Although he was sold as a slave, he did not complain or become bitter. He carried out his responsibilities faithfully and diligently, and as a result, Potiphar entrusted everything into his care.

Genesis 39:7–10:
“And it came to pass… his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph… But he refused… How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God”

Joseph responded with integrity and refused to sin against God.

Genesis 39:21–23:
“But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy… and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.”

Even in prison, Joseph served faithfully. He did not resent his situation but remained committed to God. His faithfulness eventually led to his promotion to leadership in Egypt.

Key Lessons

• Dedication must continue in difficult situations
• Integrity is essential in the life of a believer
• God’s presence remains with the faithful
• Faithfulness leads to divine promotion

Application

Remain faithful to God in every situation. God can turn your challenges into testimonies.

6. Marks of a Fully Dedicated Believer

• Obedience to God’s Word
• Faithfulness in all circumstances
• Integrity in both private and public life
• Consistency in prayer and study of the Word
• A grateful heart

RCCG Berwick upon Tweed – Digging Deep Bible Study

Theme: The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower
Date: Thursday, 14th May 2026

Main Bible Text: Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (KJV)

Lesson Introduction

Life can sometimes bring fear, confusion, temptation, pressure, and challenges. Many people run to friends, money, human wisdom, or worldly systems when problems arise. However, the Bible teaches that the safest place for every believer is in God Himself.

God is our refuge, protector, helper, and hiding place. As Christians, our confidence should not be in human strength but in the power and presence of God.

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this study, you should be able to:

1. Understand what the “Name of the Lord” means

2. Know why God is our protection

3. Learn how to run to God through prayer and faith

4. Develop confidence in Jesus Christ during difficult times

1. The Name of the LORD

In the Bible, the Name of the Lord represents:

- God’s power
- God’s authority
- God’s character
- God’s presence

God’s Name is holy and powerful. It is not an ordinary name.

Examples of God’s Names

1. Jehovah Jireh — The Lord Our Provider
(Genesis 22:14)

2. Jehovah Rapha — The Lord Our Healer
(Exodus 15:26)

3. Jehovah Shalom — The Lord Our Peace
(Judges 6:24)

Philippians 2:9–10 teaches that God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him a Name above every other name.

Psalm 20:7 says:
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

As believers, we must learn to trust in the Name of Jesus because His Name carries authority and power.

2. A Strong Tower

In Bible days, strong towers were built for protection and defense during war or danger. People ran into them to stay safe from enemies.

A strong tower represents:

- Safety
- Security
- Refuge
- Protection

Spiritually, God is our strong tower.

Psalm 91:1–2 teaches that God is our refuge and fortress.

Isaiah 41:10 reminds us that God strengthens and helps His people.

God becomes:

- Our protector in danger
- Our peace during confusion
- Our strength during weakness

Illustration:
A child naturally runs into the arms of his father during a storm. In the same way, believers should run to God in times of trouble.

3. The Righteous Run Into It

Who are the righteous?

The righteous are not people who are perfect or who never make mistakes.

Romans 5:1 explains that the righteous are:

- Those who believe in Jesus Christ
- Those forgiven by God
- Those who are growing daily in their walk with God

What does it mean to “run into” God?

It means to:

- Pray immediately
- Trust God quickly
- Depend on God fully
- Seek God first

Practical Ways to Run to God

When afraid — Pray
(Philippians 4:6–7)

When tempted — Call on Jesus
(1 Corinthians 10:13)

When confused — Read the Bible
(Psalm 119:105)

When weak — Worship God
(Isaiah 40:31)

When under attack — Declare God’s promises
(Luke 10:19)

4. And Is Safe

God gives different kinds of safety to His children.

1. Spiritual Safety
(Psalm 121:7–8)

God protects us from destruction and keeps our souls safe.

2. Emotional Safety
(John 14:27)

God gives peace during fear, anxiety, and worry.

3. Eternal Safety
(John 10:28)

Through Jesus Christ, we receive eternal life and salvation.

Important Truth

John 16:33 teaches that believers may still face challenges in life. However, God promises to be with us, help us, and give us victory.

Psalm 46:1 says:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Key Lessons from This Study

1. God’s Name carries power
2. God is our strong tower
3. Believers must run to God in faith
4. God protects and preserves His children

Reflection Questions

1. Where do you normally run when problems come?
2. Have you truly made God your refuge?
3. What fear do you need to surrender to God today?

THEME: THE NAME OF JESUS

MEMORISE: Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

READ: Philippians 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MESSAGE
Many years ago, my driver and I were travelling from Ibadan to Ilorin, a city in the North- Central region of Nigeria. There was a narrow bridge along the way, and only one vehicle could drive on it at a time. Therefore, drivers had to wait for any vehicles that were coming from the opposite direction of the bridge to pass through before they could get on the bridge. When we reached the foot of the bridge, we observed that no vehicle was coming from the opposite direction; therefore, we got on the bridge and began to drive to the other side. When we were halfway across the bridge, we suddenly saw that a truck was coming From the opposite direction at top speed. We had only two choices: we could either collide with the oncoming truck or swerve and plunge into the river under the bridge. There was no time to pray, but there was enough time to shout the name of Jesus. We eventually met the truck in the middle of the bridge, and somehow, we passed beside it and drove safely to the other side. My driver was so shaken that he immediately parked the car when we crossed over. When he regained his composure, he turned to me and asked what had just happened, and I told him that God enlarged the bridge for us.

The name of Jesus is powerful; it guarantees deliverance (Mark 16:17), freedom (John 8:36), promotion John 12:32), rest (Matt 11:28-30), satisfaction (John 7:37-39), answers to prayer John 14:14), and victory (1 Corinthians 15:57). Philippians 2:9 also tells us that His name is above every name. This means that everything that has a name is subject to the name of Jesus. If there is any ailment that has been plaguing you, as long as it has a name, it is inferior to the name of Jesus because at His name, every knee bows (Philippians 2:10).

Beloved, Jesus has given you the authority to use His name (John 16:23-24). This means that you have the ability to control situations and align them to God’s will for your life. Never despair when you are faced with negative situations; instead, proclaim the name of Jesus boldly, and you will surely emerge victorious. I pray that the power in the name of Jesus will destroy every plan of the devil concerning you and your household. Henceforth, you will walk in victory at all times, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT
The name of Jesus is superior to every other name.

THEME: SECRETS TO LONGEVITY II

MEMORISE: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

READ: Ephesians 6:10-17
10 iFinally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

MESSAGE
Yesterday, I started sharing some secrets to longevity and how believers can stay the course on the path that God has set before them. Today, I will share another secret to longevity: knowing when to fight.

When you are confronted by the devil, you shouldn't run or hide; rather, you must stand and fight. The devil is not a gentle spirit; he tries to cheat his victims out of their rights, steal from them, kill them, and destroy them (John 10:10). Therefore, every time he raises his ugly head, you must resist him immediately and put him in his place with the sword of the Spirit (the word of God). Many people think that they can cohabit with the devil and enter into agreements with him. For instance, they might have a family tradition of making certain sacrifices to deities for protection, and they think that by keeping the traditions alive, the devil will leave them alone. However, this never works because the devil is a great deceiver; he is a big liar, and he is the father of lies (John 8:44). He is not someone to make deals with, which is why today's memory verse says that you should resist him so that he will flee from you. You should not partner with him or shake hands with him.

Today's Bible reading says that believers wrestle against principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. It also says that believers must put on the whole armor of God, but you will notice that there is no piece of armor to protect our backs. This means that the moment a believer turns his or her back on the devil, he will attack the believer. Therefore, you should never turn your back to run away from him. For instance, if you perceive that the devil is trying to attack your marriage, simply calling a family meeting will not suffice because the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 that the weapons we have been given for warfare are not physical. Rather, you must send the devil packing out of your home by going against him with the sword of the Spirit (the word of God). Likewise, if you observe that some strange things are happening in the ministry that God has placed in your hands or that the devil is trying to attack your job or business, get up and fight! Never turn your back on the devil; he does not play fair.

KEY POINT
Your response to the devil should never be to run and hide; rather, you must stand and fight.
