Is Happiness Overrated?
Everyone wants to be happy.
We keep chasing it—spending money, collecting things, getting gifts, finding love, chasing new experiences.
But if happiness depends on our circumstances… what happens when the toy rusts?
When the car grows old?
When the loved one dies, health fades, money disappears, and the party is over?
That’s when happiness fades.
But joy… joy is different.
Joy runs deeper, stronger.
It’s the quiet, confident assurance of God’s love—His hand at work in our lives.
It’s the certainty that He will be there, no matter what.
As the prophet declared:
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” — Habakkuk 3:17–18
