The grounds include the restored castle, a library, a museum, and scenic walks along the River Blackwater. Since coming to Benburb the Servites have maintained an ‘open door’ policy to all of the community regardless of religion and the Priory-Centre is seen as a haven where people can come and feel welcome. The Priory - Centre is open as a Pastoral, Retreat and Conference Centre with bedrooms, conference rooms, meeting rooms and catering facilities. It is located in an area of outstanding natural and scenic beauty and of great historical importance, and gateway to the Benburb Valley Park, Benburb Castle and Bawn. The Priory and Centre attracts groups from every walk of life who come to meet and discuss the many complex issues which effect their lives. It is also used as a recreational facility for groups wishing to expand their skills in cultural activities or for those wishing to participate in courses in spiritual and human development. Some of the groups who come are inter-denominational and they spend their time here living, working, praying and recreating together. For many the Priory and Centre provides them with that freedom of association so often denied them in their home or local environment. They soon learn that it is okay to enjoy the company of people who come from different backgrounds and leave having made new friends.

In Memory of Peter Curran

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Teresa, Paula, Maria and family on the sad loss of their beloved Peter.

Peter was a true gentleman, loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather. He will be remembered with great affection and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May the love Peter shared with his family remain a beautiful and everlasting light in their hearts, bringing comfort in the moments when he is missed the most.

May God welcome Peter into His loving arms and grant him eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom. May He hold Teresa and all the family close, surrounding them with strength and comfort through their sorrow.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Peter and Teresa have both given great support to Benburb Priory over the years, and we are deeply grateful for their kindness and connection to the Priory.

A lovely Walk & Talk this morning, made more enjoyable by an unexpected musical treat! 🎶 Laura Ann joined us for our walk and chat and finished the morning by sharing some of her singing with us. A lovely way to round off our morning. A big thank you to Laura Ann McGurk for sharing her talent.
