Today we celebrated the 131st anniversary of the Salvation Army in Bellshill. What a powerful meeting we shared in this morning with our guests for the weekend, Commissioners Anthony and Gill Cotterill (R).

The band's contribution to worship this morning was a beautiful arrangement of the song 'He Will Hold Me Fast'.

When I fear my faith will fail
Christ will hold me fast
When the tempter would prevail
He will hold me fast

I could never keep my hold
Through life's fearful path
For my love is often cold
He must hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Saviour loves me so
He will hold me fast

Those He saves are His delight
Christ will hold me fast
Precious in His holy sight
He will hold me fast

He'll not let my soul be lost
His promises shall last
Bought by Him at such a cost
He will hold me fast

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Saviour loves me so
He will hold me fast

For my life He bled and died
Christ will hold me fast
Justice has been satisfied
He will hold me fast

Raised with Him to endless life
He will hold me fast
'Til our faith is turned to sight
When He comes at last!

He will hold me fast
He will hold me fast
For my Saviour loves me so
He will hold me fast

Commissioner Anthony encouraged us to live authentic lives. We must increasingly and intentionally become the person our God created us to be, as we try to become more like Christ, a true servant of God.

At the end of our worship the band reminded us that God's presence must go with us into the future, as we played the hymn tune, 'Lord, If Your Presence'.

Lord, if your presence does not go with us,
Please do not send us up from here.
How will anyone know we are your people
Unless you go before us?

Lord, if your favour does not rest on us
We dare not move beyond this place,
How will anyone know we go in your name
Unless your blessing is over us?

So we stand within your presence,
And humbly seek your grace;
Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour,
We long to meet you face to face.
Let your glory fall upon us,
Convict, inspire, provide;
Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour,
Your holy presence is our guide.

Lord if your presence does not stay with us,
Please do not send us up from here.
How will anyone hear of truth and goodness
Unless your Word speaks through us?

Lord, if your presence is not love in us
How can we minister your grace?
How will anyone feel your tender mercy
Unless your heart is in us?

So we stand within your presence…

Following worship there was a corps march of witness through the streets of Bellshill. This was followed by tea and coffee in the hall, during which our anniversary cake was cut.

Today's theme: Are you sitting comfortably?

Our corps officers were leading worship at another corps this morning, so our worship was led by Commissioners Carol and Ivor Telfer (R).

During worship the band played 'Be Seen In Me' (Marcus Venables).

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me,
All his wonderful passion and purity,
O thou Spirit divine, all my nature refine,
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me

Commissioner Ivor asked if we were sitting comfortably because we know and trust Jesus? And if we willing and ready, to go out and win souls, wherever we find ourselves?

The band brought our worship to a conclusion by playing the hymn tune 'I'll Go In The Strength'.

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
In paths He has marked for my feet;
I’ll follow the light of His word,
Nor shrink from the dangers I meet.
His presence my steps shall attend,
His fullness my wants shall supply;
On Him, till my journey shall end,
My unwavering faith shall rely.

Chorus
I’ll go (I’ll go,) I’ll go in the strength,
I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
I’ll go, (I’ll go,) I’ll go in the strength,
I’ll go in the strength of the Lord.

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
To work He appoints me to do;
In joy which his smile doth afford
My soul shall her vigour renew.
His wisdom shall guard me from harm,
His power my sufficiency prove;
I’ll trust His omnipotent arm,
And prove His unchangeable love.

I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
To conflicts which faith will require,
His grace as my shield and reward,
My courage and zeal shall inspire.
Since he gives the word of command,
To meet and encounter the foe,
With his sword of truth in my hand,
To suffer and triumph I’ll go.
