24/9/26 (Jesus said) “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭35‬ ‭
We have been given access to something eternal, everlasting. We have the words of Jesus and it has never been easier to access them. We have bibles in numerous translations. We have them on our phones through Apps. We have them through the internet. We have them in countless songs. They are written on buses and in signs by the roadside. The question is ‘do we care’? We can scroll for hours on social media but do we spend any time at all reading this eternal treasure. We can quote the lyrics of contemporary songs but how many of Jesus’ words can we repeat without needing to look them up first? I know my ability recall scripture passages isn't that great. Do we each need to look at what we’ve committed to our hearts and resolve to learn more of our Saviour’s words?

Have we opened our eyes
And noticed that the world is brimming with possibilities? Are we excited about the possibilities God has placed along our path? We should be! Each morning God presents us with a world full of opportunities. Will we make good use of them? Will we take the opportunity to show Jesus by our actions, by our words, how we react to situations we come across during today?

When you look around it seems as though the whole world is on a treasure hunt.
What kind of treasure hunter am I, are you?
Do we get so caught up in the demands of everyday living that we sometimes allow the search for wordly treasures become our primary focus? If yes, take a few moments and reorganise our to do list, placing God in his rightful place - first place. God’s treasures are available to all who seek Him, and they are everlasting.

Here in 2026 information is everywhere - we go to google up pops an answer. But the ultimate source of wisdom, the kind of timeless wisdom that God willingly shares with His children, is still available from a single unique source, the Bible.
The wisdom of the world changes with the ever shifting sands of public opinion. God’s wisdom is eternal. It never changes because it’s always right.
And that’s the wisdom we must seek to plan our day, our live and our eternal destiny.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be looking at James 1:5–12 and considering how God gives us wisdom when we face trials.

When trials come, we can ask God for wisdom, trust Him without wavering, and persevere in faith, knowing that He uses trials to strengthen and mature us.

Join us tomorrow at 11am as we look at what it means to seek God’s wisdom in the midst of difficult circumstances.

19/9/26 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.’ ” Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” ‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭
When some of the Israelites returned to Jerusalem after their exile in Babylon they were supposed to rebuild the temple. Unfortunately that took second place to building luxurious homes for themselves so God challenged them through the prophet Haggai. Are your own houses more important than God’s temple? The same question can apply to us today. Are we so busy doing our own work and building our own lives and little kingdoms that we have no time or energy left to invest in building the Kingdom of our God? Is there some part of God’s work being neglected because we’re too busy elsewhere?

18/9/26 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” ‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭7‬
The religious leaders had brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus. Let’s be honest about this - they didn’t care about the woman. She was just something they thought they could use to trap Jesus. At first Jesus ignored them but, when they persisted with their argument, Jesus stood and answered them. The one who has never sinned should throw the first stone. Gradually all her accusers went away until only the woman and Jesus were left. The person who sinned and the only person who could have actually thrown the first stone standing side by side. Jesus didn’t condemn her and told her to go and leave her life of sin. Not long after this Jesus took her sin to the cross. He took with it my sin, your sin, the sin of the world. The world will try to condemn us, try to bring us down but the Saviour has chosen to forgive us and He is still standing with us.

17/9/26 I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭
We may be familiar with this Psalm of David but I’ve often wondered why he talks about looking up to the mountains. After the children of Israel took possession of the promised land one of their chief sins was to set up altars and poles in high places and there they would worship false gods. I think that David is taking a big swipe at this practice. David may have looked up to the mountains, the high places, but in doing so he was looking up to the only true God who was able to answer his prayers. God, who made the heavens and the earth, who made us, is the only one we can depend upon.
