Every July hundreds of people, young and old, healthy and sick from Down & Connor (and beyond) make a journey of faith to the Pyrenean town of Lourdes where in 1858 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the 14 year old Bernadette Soubirous. Mary’s message in Lourdes was a simple one – a call to prayer and conversion of heart – her desire to draw people closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. Since then pil

grims from across the world have travelled together to Lourdes, entrusting to the maternal intercession of Mary their cares, worries and in many cases, their physical, mental or emotional frailty.

We finished our last full day with a prayerful celebration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. This was followed by the presentation of 5 Year Service badges.

The highlight was the presentation of the Papal Benemerenti medal to Sinead McAllister. Sinead has served on every one of our 40 pilgrimages as a handmaiden and has been Pilgrimage Secretary for many years. We offer her our heartfelt congratulations🎉🎉👏👏

During this our 40h annual pilgrimage, we are mindful of all those who have been pilgrims over those years and who have died. In our Mass this morning, we will prayerfully remember all our deceased fellow pilgrims and all those who have given service as members of the staff teams.
We invite you to join us in praying for that intention.
