Every July hundreds of people, young and old, healthy and sick from Down & Connor (and beyond) make a journey of faith to the Pyrenean town of Lourdes where in 1858 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the 14 year old Bernadette Soubirous. Mary’s message in Lourdes was a simple one – a call to prayer and conversion of heart – her desire to draw people closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. Since then pil

grims from across the world have travelled together to Lourdes, entrusting to the maternal intercession of Mary their cares, worries and in many cases, their physical, mental or emotional frailty.

This morning at Mass we will remember in a particular way all the deceased pilgrims and staff who have been part of the pilgrimage family over the years. Through the intercession of Mary, we entrust them to the love and tender mercy of God.
