Most prisoners measure time in sentences and parole dates. Alejandro* measured his in chapters read, verses memorised, and promises discovered.

In 1999, inside a Mexican prison, he received a first-edition Spanish NIV Bible. It changed everything about how he counted his days, and he kept it for twenty-five years. Scripture became his teacher where no formal training existed, its pages growing worn while the Word stayed living and active.

Released from prison, Alejandro became a pastor in Tijuana, leading others who've known only incarceration and poverty.

Recently, he brought that treasured Bible to a Biblica Study Bible presentation at the US-Mexico border, where he received something built for leaders exactly like him: a resource designed for the 95% of Latin American church leaders serving without formal theological training.

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” - Colossians 3:13

Human relationships can be messy, but a grievance is never an excuse to harbour bitterness. True forgiveness is not measured by our emotions or whether someone deserves it, but is anchored wholly in how we have been treated by the Father. When we choose to release our hurts into His hands, we stop carrying the heavy weight of offense and allow His peace to guard our hearts.

"It no longer felt like a distant story. It felt like my own life."

That's how one Bible translation reviewer in the MENA region described reading 1 Kings 17, the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, in her mother tongue for the first time.

The simplicity of her own language let the meaning land with unusual power. She was reminded that true faith often shows up in hardship, that giving isn't about how much we have, and that God can use even our little when it's surrendered to Him.

She loved the story so much that she shared it with her house church. The response was the same: hearts moved, truth felt close.

This is the power of Scripture in the language people speak every day.

"So the last will be first and the first will be last." - Matthew 20:16

Our culture trains us to sprint for the top spot, looking for recognition and personal success. In the kingdom of God however, everything is upside down. Jesus completely redefines greatness by calling us to a lifestyle of humility and sacrificial service. When we abandon the pursuit of recognition and choose to put others first we allow Christ to receive the full reward of His sacrifice.

Look for opportunities to serve the overlooked in your community today. Let us choose the narrow road of humility over the broad road of recognition.

Eighty-five children. Four months. One entire book of the Bible memorised.

In Ethiopia, kids ages 9 to 12 took on an extraordinary challenge: memorising the entire book of Ephesians for Bible Bee Ethiopia. They competed through four rounds until 10 finalists stood before judges and recited God's Word from memory.

Then something no one expected happened.

Parents watching their children compete were so moved that they began memorising Scripture themselves. Churches launched new Bible reading and memorisation programs. Families started building their homes around God's Word.

This is the third year of Bible Bee Ethiopia, known in Amharic as "Remembering Your Word in my Heart." Over 218 children have now journeyed through Genesis, Psalms, Hebrews, and Ephesians. Each finalist receives a Bible with study guides so the Word keeps growing in them.

Children carry it in their hearts, parents carry it home, and churches carry it forward.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” - Proverbs 16:3

We often feel the heavy weight of trying to be the authors of our own success. When we commit our ways to the Lord, we trade our limited strategies for a stable future built on His perfect faithfulness.

He invites us to move away from selfish ambition and instead find the security that only comes from aligning our hearts with His sovereign will.

Lay your plans at the feet of Jesus, because you can truly trust Him to know what’s best for your life.

A Fresh Start This Season

As summer winds down and routines return, there's something hopeful and exciting about this time of year. Backpacks get packed. Schedules reset. Fresh notebooks wait to be filled.

It's the perfect season to begin again with God's Word, too.

Maybe summer was full and your time in Scripture slipped. Maybe you've been meaning to start a reading habit but kept waiting for the "right" moment. Here's the good news: you don't need to wait for 1st January or a perfect plan. You just need to open the Bible and begin.

Even a few minutes a day adds up. A single verse can shift your perspective. A chapter can anchor your day. Over time, these small moments build a steady rhythm that draws you closer to the Lord.

As this new season begins, what's one small step you can take to make God's Word part of your daily routine?

Helping Children Heal

As children around the world head back to school, many carry invisible weight: the effects of trauma, loss, violence, or upheaval. A serious accident, a natural disaster, war, displacement, or abuse can shatter a child's sense of safety and leave them feeling helpless.

But the love of Jesus can heal even the darkest experience.

Survivors is a crisis response resource designed to help children ages 6 to 11 work through trauma. Following the journey of a character named Tree, each session is led by a trained facilitator who helps children process their own experiences in a safe, supportive setting.

Through stories and Scripture, children learn to express their emotions in healthy ways, develop self-calming techniques, and grieve their losses. Most importantly, they discover they were created by a God who loves them and cares for them.

Every child deserves to know they matter, their feelings are normal, and they are never alone.

Survivors brings that truth to hurting children, offering peace, hope, and the presence of God in their hardest moments.

What does it take to change the course of your entire life? For some of Jesus' first disciples, it took just two words.

Picture the scene at the Sea of Galilee. Simon Peter and Andrew were casting their nets—the same routine they'd followed countless times before. James and John were nearby, mending nets with their father. Ordinary working men with calloused hands and predictable lives.

Then Jesus walked by. "Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people" - Matthew 4:19. No lengthy explanation. No promise of security. Just an invitation that would turn fishermen into world-changers. And their response? "At once they left their nets and followed him" - Matthew 4:20.

Jesus didn't call them because they were equipped. He called them because they were willing to trust Him to equip them, day by day. And the same voice that called fishermen from their nets is calling you today.

How will you respond?

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” - Proverbs 11:2

Pride is a form of spiritual blindness that leads us to rely on our own limited authority. When we choose the posture of a humble learner, we trade the heavy burden of self-reliance for the peace of God's guidance.

True wisdom is found in the honest realisation that we are not in control and that our strength comes from total dependence on Him.

Today, think of one way to trade pride for peace.
