General information

"Make the unity of the Body of Christ your passionate concern" – Bro. Alois Loser, prior of Taize, passed on this challenge to us in his address on June 11th 2012 at the Dublin International Eucharisitc Congress. It inspires the small steps and inter-church partnerships of the current Clonard Reconciliation Mission. We firmly believe that unity in the Body of Christ makes peace to grow. Small Steps Together on Sunday Week by week, a group of Catholic unity pilgrims go in friendship and faith from Clonard Monastery to a host congregation, Church of Ireland, Presbyterian, Methodist or other, to share by prior arrangement in their Sunday worship. Together in the Word Every Monday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm a group of Catholic unity pilgrims and others meet in Tres Dias House, 443 Springfield Rd, for an inter-church "lectio divina" of the Scripture readings assigned for the following Sunday in the Common Lectionary. Together in Silent Adoration Every Thursday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in the chapel of Adoration, 63 Falls Rd, a group of Catholic unity pilgrims and others enter silently into the prayer of Jesus "Father may they all be one, so that the world may believe. On the third Wednesday of each month some keep a night vigil there from 12.00 midnight to 6.00am. Together in Welcoming Guests Clonard church is open all day. Everyone is welcome to come there to pray. In the monastery we receive visitors from all churches and none who come to enquire about the Catholic faith and to seek mutual understanding. Guest preachers from the Church of Ireland, Presbyterian and Methodist churches speak at Clonard church services and occasionally share meals with the community. Ecumenism marches on its stomach!
