West Kirk Guides Will keep you up to date with happenings of the West Kirk Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Senior Secti We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations.

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun. We know all girls are amazing and can do anything they set their mind to. Girlguiding encourages them to try new challenges and adventures, be it camping abroad, canoeing or partying at

our very own pop concert, BIG Gig. Each new experience helps our Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members find out how much they’re capable of, learn skills that will give them a head start in life and make a positive difference to those around them. Most importantly they have loads of fun and build brilliant friendships along the way! We’ve been helping girls push the limits for more than 100 years – listening to them and changing with the times so we stay one step ahead. Our membership is made up of age-specific groups:

• Rainbows – age 4-7
• Brownies – age 7-10
• Guides – age 10-15
• Senior Section - age 14-25

All of our adult volunteers are fully trained and can access a world of exciting activities. These range from arts and crafts to outdoor challenges such as abseiling and climbing, from community action projects to international adventures.

One of our Guide Leaders is heading up one of the biggest Girlguiding events of the decade as Lead Volunteer!! 😎

We cant wait to take the girls along, there will be lots going on with Inflatables, rides, workshops, petting farm, disco, main stage entertainment and lots lots more!!! Its going to be EPIC! 🤩🥳

✨ MEET THE TEAM MONDAY ✨

👤 Name: Susan Cummings
🎓 Occupation: Global Events Co-Ordinator for Andor Technology
🌎 Home Town: Belfast, County Antrim

After volunteering to take the lead role, Susan covers all aspects of the event, including planning the programme and keeping on top of administration! By no means was taking on the role of Lead Volunteer a challenge for Susan, with her already having event planning experience from her job.

Susan is an Adult Leader for 21st C Belfast Guides and Rangers, as well as being a Unit Helper for the Rainbows and Brownies. Being a member of GO:2020 is Susan’s first Girlguiding role outside of her own unit, we are delighted to have Susan as part of the team, she makes an excellent leader of the group! She joined the team as it is something that Girlguiding Ulster have never done before, and it is very exciting to be part of the planning committee. Susan says that she is most looking forward to seeing all sections coming together for the day to have fun and enjoy everything that is Guiding is, kicking us off into the next decade.
