Irish Methodist Youth & Children's Team Helping Young People and Children take their place in God's Mission

We are passionate about seeing a generation rising up and taking ownership of their faith and their God given potential to impact the world for Jesus in their everyday, in and through the intergenerational family called the Church. It involves representing and advocating for young adults, youth and children's issues within the whole life of the Church and beyond. It means training and supporting m

inisters, youth and childrenโ€™s workers and volunteer leaders and supporting families as they pass on faith to the next generation. It involves giving children, young people and young adults the opportunity to encounter God, for some for the first time, and develop their gifts and skills by participating youth and childrenโ€™s events and programmes throughout Ireland.

๐Ÿ™ WEDNESDAY MOTIVATION ๐Ÿ™

This weeks Wednesday Motivation comes from Lisa Best!

Exams can feel like a lot. I definitely remember that struggle myself. Pressure. Stress. Overthinking. The fear of not doing well. The feeling that everything depends on this one season.
Take 3 minutes and check out the song โ€œTake Heartโ€ by Tenth Avenue North on their latest Album โ€˜Learning to Trustโ€™. This song reminds us of something powerful:
โ€œTake heart, when everything feels like itโ€™s falling apart. Jesus says something really similar in John 16:33:
โ€œIn this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.โ€
That means when you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or like youโ€™re carrying too much, you donโ€™t have to carry it on your own. Jesus is with you in the pressure.

If exams are a lot right now, remember:
your grades do not decide your worth
one bad exam does not define your future
feeling anxious does not mean youโ€™re failing
God is still with you in the middle of it all

When youโ€™re overwhelmed, He has overcome.

๐Ÿ™ WEDNESDAY MOTIVATION ๐Ÿ™

This weeks Wednesday Motivation comes from Gillian Gilmore!

Breath prayers are an ancient form of prayer โ€“ they are based on scripture and allow us to calm our body, mind and soul, as we focus on Jesus and become aware of his presence with us.

If you can breathe you can pray a breath prayer! Anytime, anywhere. They could be really useful for those few moments standing outside the exam hall or sitting at your desk waiting to begin. There are two phrases โ€“ one to whisper of say in your mind as you breathe in and one for breathing out. Repeat as many times as is helpful.
Why not try this one today,

๐‘ฐ๐’๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’†
Lord you are my shepherd
๐‘ฌ๐’™๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’†
I will have everything I need

Next month is the National Month of Prayer for Toddler Groups!
The theme this year is Jesus the Good Shepherd (based on John 10 v 14-16) and lots of activities are planned!
Lots of resources are available on the 1277 website and also in the files in the 1277 Facebook group โ€“ check them out and pass them onto your toddler group leaders.

If you are a leader in your parent and toddler group in Ireland and would like to join the 1277 WhatsApp group, contact Heather for more information

Why not encourage your young people to join us in prayer for conference, especially for the youth reps we have this year as they prepare to represent the youth and children across the island ๐Ÿ™

๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง:

As Conference approaches, we invite you to join us in prayer (Wednesday 3rd - Saturday 6th June) to intercede for the work of Conference, praying for the wisdom and leading of the Spirit as we gather for worship, prayer and conferring.

Sign-up for an hour (or more!) to cover the whole of Conference.

๐Ÿ™ WEDNESDAY MOTIVATION ๐Ÿ™

This week, our Wednesday Motivation comes from Marcas Connolly!

One of my favourite modern worship songs is Jireh, by Maverick City Music. Jireh is a Hebrew term, often paired as Jehovah-Jireh (or Yahweh Yireh), meaning "the Lord will provide" or "the Lord my provider". It originates from The Book of Genesis and signifies God seeing a need and actively acting to fulfil it, rooted in Abrahamโ€™s experience on Mount Moriah. It is often used to mean divine provision; He will provide.

No matter how you are feeling this busy exam season. Maybe you feel prepared or unprepared, relaxed or anxious, excited or exhausted. No matter what, and maybe not always in the way we want, but He will provide.

Childrenโ€™s Ministry Essentials is an introduction to mission and ministry with children, whatever context youโ€™re based in. There are 10 modules which can be taken in isolation or together, online or face-to-face, as a regular group or at your own pace. The modules cover topics like The World of a Child, Pastoral Care, Spiritual Styles, and Participation.
Throughout the past year, IMYC facilitated Connexional in-person sessions at Moira Methodist Church and online sessions via Teams. With several people completing the course at their own pace online, 22 people from across the Connexion have now engaged with this course.
We are planning to start a second online cohort on Monday nights from 22nd June. At present, itโ€™ll be running until October, (2 sessions per month).

We have a number of discounted places left, so please email Heather if you are interested in pursuing this course.
