Please note, the Saying Goodbye baby loss remembrance service due to take place in Belfast Cathedral this Sunday, June 14, has been POSTPONED until November 15.
A statement from the Saying Goodbye team reads: “After careful consideration, and following the recent unrest and ongoing police activity in Belfast, we have made the decision to move this weekend’s services to new dates.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. We know how much these services mean to the families who attend, and we understand that many of you have been emotionally preparing to gather with us.
“We have taken this decision from a place of care, not fear. Our service exists to hold families safely, and we will never ask anyone to travel into uncertainty while Belfast is unsettled.”
The statement continues: “We appreciate that changing dates may cause inconvenience, and we are deeply grateful for your understanding. The wellbeing of the families we serve, our volunteers, clergy, and team members must always come first.
“These services are moments of remembrance, gratitude, love and hope. We want everyone attending to be able to travel and gather with confidence, knowing that the focus can remain where it belongs, on remembering and honouring precious babies.
“Thank you for your patience, your support, and your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you at the Dublin and Belfast events in November.”
The Belfast service will be on November 15 at 2pm. A service due to take place in Dublin has also been rearranged and will now be held on Saturday November 14 at 7pm.
