On behalf of the Committee, I am writing to advise that tonight’s proposed committee meeting has been postponed.

In light of the prospect of protests in and around Belfast this evening, and in the interests of ensuring everyone’s safety while travelling to and from the church, we have taken the decision to postpone the meeting.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. I will be in touch as soon as possible with details of a new date.

💚Young country diary💚

We send our congratulations to young Benjie, aged 8, grandson of our elder Sheena Lewis, who has had an article published in The Guardian highlighting the devastating wildfires in County Down.

At such a young age, it is wonderful to see someone speaking thoughtfully and passionately about the environment and the importance of caring for the world around us. Benjie, you should be very proud of raising awareness of such an important issue.

💚Historical Tour💚

We are delighted to invite members and friends of All Souls Church to a fascinating day exploring the history of Clifton House and Graveyard on Saturday 6 June.

The day will begin at 10.45am with tea and coffee in Clifton House, followed by a guided tour of this remarkable building and a talk by our Elder, Roger Courtney examining the influence of Enlightenment thinking, the Belfast Charitable Society, the United Irishmen, and the role of Non Subscribing Presbyterians in shaping Belfast’s history.

The afternoon will conclude with a guided tour of the graveyard, where many significant figures connected to Belfast’s story are buried.

Itinerary:
• 10.45am Arrival at Clifton House
• 11.00am Guided tour of Clifton House
• 12.00pm Lunch, talk by Roger Courtney, and discussion
• 1.30pm Guided tour of the Graveyard
• 3.00pm Finish

Afterwards, conversation will continue informally in the Criterion Bar at Carlisle Circus for anyone who wishes to stay on.

Cost: £30 per person.

This promises to be a thoughtful, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable day exploring an important part of Belfast’s shared history.

Our Elder, Roger Courtney, has just updated his C.S. Lewis blog with an interesting review of Shadowlands, the acclaimed play based on the lives of C.S. Lewis and Joy Gresham.

Currently playing in London’s West End, it comes highly recommended for anyone planning a visit to the city.
