When i was a kid I was always taught try your best, however i professional football in Irish League it seems that is not the case.
I don't mind if my team loses, but tried. However in case of Glentoran F C and others its a joke.
Children save up to get through the turnstilesand watch their hero's who receive good pay , onlybto witness same old lack luster performances, but salaries still paid.
On the books Glentoran should be playing well, but we have same results, and incapable of winning against inferior teams at bottom , where as top teams slaughter struggling teams and boost their goal difference.
I wonder as in business and Glentoran is a business how Mr Devine and Co would react if all contracts were set as based on performance related results. We might see reactions then.
Lets not forget Linfield F.C. who said they were trying out players in top six when they couldn't win league and deliberately threw points away by playing players not enough qualified against top flight teams to deliberately ensure Glentoran was not gping to win league by their results.
This was totally unprofessional and yet no fines and no investigations against Linfield with fines imposed, for what was clearly unprofessional conduct by their Manager and Club.
This is why teams are struggling and if they continue to behave in this fashion supporters will fall away and big and small will make no profits, investors will walk away alongside sponsors and the Irish League will fold.
Perhaps maybe this is needed as clearly the clubs and tgeir directors don't care about taking money for what we witnessed last year and is continuing this year.
Bye bye Irish League, or should we just save up.and go accross thecwater to watch good games that are entertaining , full of energy and competiveness.
