On Monday evening we had the privilege of welcoming Dr Yousef Aljamal to the Belfast Jesuit Centre, in partnership with Christians4Palestine.

His quiet strength, his stories of life in Gaza, and his unwavering commitment to hope, held the room and the Zoom in a deep, attentive stillness. He spoke with courage, clarity, and a profound belief in the power of storytelling to safeguard human dignity.

We’re grateful to all who joined us in person and on Zoom for this moving and important conversation.

Our online Book Club is starting a new read on Wednesday 18th March, and we’re excited to dive into Tomáš Halík’s:

I Want You to Be: On the God of Love.

Many of you will remember how much we gained from our last Halík book, "The Afternoon of Christianity" and the joy of having him join us on the final evening. We’re looking forward to picking up the conversation again with this beautiful, thought‑provoking exploration of love as the heart of faith.

Halik is a Czech priest, philosopher, and sociology professor and one of today’s most respected Christian thinkers. This book is a gentle, wise invitation to see God’s love as something active, courageous, and deeply human.

Everyone is welcome to join us; whether you’ve read Halík before or are meeting him for the first time. Come along for good conversation, honest questions, and a meaningful read together.

Our next Faith & Film Night is on 26th March from 7–10pm, featuring Martin Scorsese’s Silence (2016); a visually stunning and deeply moving exploration of faith under pressure.

Set in 17th‑century Japan, the film follows two Jesuit priests who risk everything to support persecuted Christian communities and search for their missing mentor.

After the screening, we’ll have space for gentle conversation and reflection.

Everyone is welcome. Light refreshments provided. Small donation suggested.
