It was great to welcome David Kerr this Sunday, who spoke to us from the book of Jonah.

He reflected on how Jonah was a reluctant yet very successful prophet - Jonah’s message from God was listened and responded to, even though he didn’t want it to be!

David highlighted the humour often displayed in biblical stories and, more seriously, reminded us that God’s love and heart for mercy is often much greater than we imagine.

*Change to service time*

This Sunday we are meeting at the later time of 12 noon to avoid road closures due to the Belfast half-marathon. We are delighted to have David Kerr lead our service this week. David is the joint Honorary Secretary of First Church in Rosemary Street, Belfast. David is a keen cyclist, amateur photographer and cat lover. He grew up in very conservative evangelical circles and asked too many questions, but after a couple of decades in the spiritual wilderness he discovered that there is more than one way to follow Jesus and walk with God. Mandy is an integrative therapist based in Lisburn who specialises in supporting individuals affected by religious trauma, with a particular focus on those within the LGBTQ+ community. Her work is dedicated to creating safe spaces for healing, fostering open conversations about the impact of faith and theology on personal wellbeing, and developing resources for those seeking to engage critically and compassionately with their spiritual experiences.
