Transformation Starts with a Question

What would you change about your community if you could?

Now ask a second question: What could you do to help make that happen?

Transformation often starts with ordinary people taking small steps together.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Su***de in Northern Ireland remains a real and urgent issue. We have a higher su***de rate than England and Wales, and NISRA data shows that rates in the most deprived areas are three times higher than in the least deprived communities.

There is no easy solution, but each of us has a role to play. At Thrive Ireland, we continue to pray for our communities and work alongside churches and local organisations to support positive mental health and wellbeing.

Can you make time today to check in on someone, listen without judgement, or remind someone that they are not alone?

Together, we can help build communities of hope, support, and connection.

If you or someone you know is struggling with difficult feelings or thoughts of su***de, free and confidential help is available 24/7 in Northern Ireland through Lifeline NI at 0808 808 8000 or the Samaritans at 116 123.

Lord,

As we enter a new season, we pray that You would continue to fill us with motivation, strength, and renewed energy. May Your Spirit move among us, refreshing our minds, renewing our hearts, and guiding our steps.

Help us never to lose sight of those in need. May we remain a people who serve with compassion, extend kindness generously, and actively seek to make a positive difference. Let us not be mere observers of change in our community, but willing and faithful participants in bringing it about.

In Your name we pray, Amen

Lord,

You are worthy of all our praise, our obedience, and our devotion. Whatever direction You lead us in, may we follow willingly.

Whatever act of kindness or service we can offer to someone in our community, may we do so with joy. And whatever we do this week, whether big or small, may we do it in the name of the Lord, bringing honour to You in all things.

Amen.

Transformation often starts with a ripple, not a wave.

One person choosing to care. One church choosing to listen. One community choosing to work together.

Small actions, rooted in faith, can create lasting change.
