Saturday 22nd July

We started the day with a devotion from Gavin, thinking about how God never leaves us... He shared this after watching a father guide his child's rubber ring the previous day as we passed the beach. Saturday was a 'day-off' so we went to help out at the local dog rescue centre by walking a number of dogs. We then spent the afternoon by the pool and at the beach before joining other members of Benitachell Christian Fellowship to watch God's Not Dead 2. We ended the day by going out for meal together.

Friday 21st July

We started the day with a devotion from Daniel 6 – Daniel in the Lion’s Den but viewing it from the impact it had on the king. God obviously has a good sense of humour as we passed a shop called The Lion’s Den which does not usually take leaflets but allowed us to put ours on their counter!

The excitement of the day: Pete almost getting arrested! We went to Moraira market to put leaflets on the cars in the car park as it is a well-attended market. This is a common practice and there were other leaflets on some of the cars. We must have put several hundred leaflets on windscreens in very humid and hot conditions but we did not realise that this was illegal! Pete got stopped by four policemen and was told it was illegal and we would have to take them all off the cars. Pete explained that they were advertising a church and the policeman he was talking to became less aggressive and allowed us to keep the flyers on the cars! He asked for a leaflet and was seen talking to his colleagues about it. Even better was coming back to the car park later on in the day and finding very few discarded leaflets, which means they are in cars, homes and villas at this moment in time. It is great to know that the testimonies printed in the leaflets are being put into the hands of so many... there is very little that is more powerful than somebody's testimony!

We are learning every day just how amazing our God is and how He is going ahead of us to bless our work.

We hosted a games and music evening for the church in the evening. We had opportunity to pray for healing for a couple of the church leaders which was an honour and privilege and we are now praying that the non-Christian friend of one church leader who came to the evening and sang to us will be touched by the conversations we had with him and the whole experience.

Thursday 20th July

As we embarked upon another morning of prayer walks and leaflet distribution, we were reminded that our 'God can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine' Eph 3. You can't imagine our excitement and relief when we found a building full of approximately 1500 mail boxes where we could deliver leaflets, saving an awful lot of walking in the midday heat! We then drove to the top of a nearby mountain with a 360* panoramic view of the surrounding towns and villages. We had a time of prayer and praise and gave thanks to God for everything he has done in this local area and prayed for the future growth of the church! We were also able to spend time with the leaders of Benitachell Christian Fellowship by visiting the local volunteer fire station (Eric is a volunteer here), driving to another local town to see a Salvation Army retreat before joining Peter and Ann (two more of the deacons) for dinner and a live music evening at a local restaurant.

Wednesday 19th July

Today we started with a devotion on John 3v16, the reason we are out on mission. We went to Benitatchell market to hand out leaflets and then visited many shops in the town to leave leaflets advertising the Benitachell Christian Fellowship. It was hard work as it was very hot and muggy... being typical British, we were out in the midday sun! We went to Teleuda to drop off some more leaflets. After lunch, we had a small amount of down time before going to the Praise and Worship service to celebrate the Fellowship’s 7th anniversary. Gavin gave his testimony and Ethan gave the message. We prayed for the leadership of the church and gave them a present to say thank you for all their work in the church. We shared a buffet meal with those who came to the service and were joined late in the evening by the Mayor. Although this was a tough day with the heat, and emotionally tiring, we achieved a lot.

Tuesday 18th July

We Started with a devotion this morning on Serving God – Jesus is our prime example of serving of course & no doubt, like us, he travelled by foot in a hot country. We are privileged to serve God and he gives us many blessings as we serve Him.

We attended a breakfast at a local restaurant in Javea. The breakfast gave us the opportunity to meet and share with members of Benitachell Christian Fellowship. One of our team was able to share her testimony and tell how faithful God has been in her life. Her testimony was well received and of great encouragement. In addition, we are learning not to underestimate how God can use what might seem like ‘just conversations’ over food.

Peter and Anne, two of the leaders of Benitachell Christian Fellowship, then took the team to see the sights of Javea including a mountain view; lots to see and appreciate in this beautiful part of Spain.

This evening we prayed for several things that had happened today and lots of people we had met. We were also able to pray the special Anniversary Prayer & Praise Evening which will be attended by the local Mayor and people from other churches in the locality.

It’s been a hot one today & we all felt pretty whacked but our spirits are good & we are very conscious of God's greatness and love of us.

Finally, as a team we invite you to join us as we pray for others from the Next Step and their respective missions over the coming weeks!

Monday 17th July

We started today looking at Joshua 1:9 and praying for courage and boldness in stepping out in faith. We were reminded that we are commanded to be strong and brave! We walked around a number of local housing complexes praying over the residents, expats and holiday makers there. We then visited the towns of Benitachell and Moraira where we met local businesses and left Benitachell Christian Fellowship leaflets. God has gone before us and we have had a number of opportunities to meet and pray for people we have met randomly in the street!
