𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐗𝐈𝐈𝐈 - 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐈𝐕
𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐄𝐳𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝟑:𝟏-𝟑
Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 𝟐 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. 𝟑 And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.
𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟏𝟓:𝟏𝟔 (NKJV)
𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
Both Ezekiel and Jeremiah found God's word concerning the situation they were in. The process of findings starts with searching. Since Jesus commands us to ‘Search the scriptures’ in 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟓:𝟑𝟗𝐚 (KJV), we understand that we need to diligently search God’s word in order to access what is written about us in the Book of Days. Searching also involves prayer as the Bible also says, ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know’, in 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟑𝟑:𝟑. It is not enough to find God’s word, we also need to eat it as it is only when God’s word is eaten that it imparts life to our spirit man. This is why David said, You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟐𝟑:𝟓𝐚)

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. 𝟕 Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. 𝟖 I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart.”

𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
One of the things that makes the Book of Remembrance different from the Book of Days is that while the former records our deeds on earth, the Book of days contains God’s plan for the totality of our life. Therefore, while the former is a record of what we have done on earth, the Book of Days contains God’s purpose for our life and all the plans God has for us. This means that we have to discover the contents of the Book of Days, and when we discover the contents, do them. This is why the Psalmist said, in the scroll of the book it is written for me, I delight to do Your will. We must first discover what is written of us before we can do it. This is also why Jeremiah said he found God’s words. We must therefore discover or find what God has written about us in the scroll of the book before we can do it. We discover what has been written about us through fellowship with the Holy Spirit, who is the Revealer of all things, even the deep things of God.

𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟏𝟑𝟗:𝟏𝟑-𝟏𝟔
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 𝟏𝟒 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. 𝟏𝟓 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 𝟏𝟔 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
Another book in heaven mentioned in the Bible is the Book of Days, in which contains a record of all the days God has fashioned or planned for us. In other words, God’s perfect plan for every human is written in a personalised book in heaven. Furthermore, the book was written before we were created. Another version says, Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began (HCSB). Therefore, when God reveals to us His plan for our life, what He is actually doing is revealing a sentence or segment of what He has written in the Book of Days concerning us. Also, in Psalm 139, David talks about our physical body being made in secret and to a timetable. Similarly, our spirit man is developed in the secret place, according to God’s timetable.

𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐄𝐳𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝟏𝟖:𝟐𝟒
“But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.
𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its services! 𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟏𝟑:𝟏𝟒(NKJV)
𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
Just as a believer’s name can be blotted from the Book of Life, similarly, a believer’s good deeds can be wiped out of the Book of Remembrance. We see this in Ezekiel 18, where God warns that if a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, his previous righteous deeds will be remembered no more. Nehemiah’s deeds were secured in the Book of Remembrance because he did not faint when faced with opposition. When there was a conspiracy against him, he intensified his prayers. For example, in Nehemiah 4, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs and others conspired against him, he responded by saying, Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night (𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟒:𝟗). Similarly, when his enemies tried to distract him, his response was to say, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” (𝐍𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟔:𝟑𝐛)
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Father God, I will not allow sin, opposition or distraction to wipe my deeds out of the Book of Remembrance, in Jesus name.

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 𝟐 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. 𝟑 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” 𝟒 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
The Bible says Cornelius feared God and since Malachi 3:16, says a Book of Remembrance was written before God for those who fear God and those who meditate on His name, we should expect Cornelius’ acts of service to God to be recorded in heaven. This is indeed the case as the angel sent to Cornelius said his alms and prayers had indeed ascended for a memorial before God. But, why is this relevant to us? Firstly, since God is no respecter of persons, your acts of service to God similarly ascend for a memorial before God. Secondly, it confirms that God rewards godliness. In Cornelius’ case the reward was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, it is God who determines the manner and timing of our reward..

𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟐𝟔:𝟔-𝟏𝟑
And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the l***r, 𝟕 a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. 𝟖 But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 𝟗For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” 𝟏𝟎 But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. 𝟏𝟏 For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. 𝟏𝟐 For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. 𝟏𝟑 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”

𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
When God spoke to Moses about the Amalekites, He told Moses to write His words in a book for a memorial. This tells us that a memorial is often written down in books. Also, as God is all knowing and does not forget, it can only mean that whatever is written down for a memorial, is written for our benefit and remembrance, not God’s. In the New Testament, the same Greek word is used for memorial and remembrance. Therefore the Book of Remembrance is a type of memorial or record in heaven of the deeds of those who fear God. We also understand that it is written for our benefit. Today's Bible reading illustrates this truth as the woman’s deed was written down in heaven and has benefitted believers all around the world.

𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝟑:𝟏𝟔
Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.
𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝟏𝟒:𝟗 (NKJV)
𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
There is also a Book of Remembrance in heaven. This book contains a record of every deed a believer does in reverence to God. It also contains a record of every reverential meditation on God’s name, as well as every resulting act. For example, Mark 14:9 was said in response to the actions of a woman recorded in 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝟏𝟒:𝟑𝐛, ‘..as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head’. Also, in 2 Samuel 7:1-2, David told Nathan the prophet that he wanted to build a house for God to dwell in. We know David’s words came from the thoughts and meditations of his heart, as the Bible also says ‘out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks’ (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟐:𝟑𝟒𝐛). God’s response is in 𝟐 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝟕:𝟓, “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? We know about these acts because both of them were entered into the Book of Remembrance. This tells us that, when we love God, there is nothing we do for Him that is not recorded and rewarded.

𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟑:𝟒 (AMP)
But you [still] have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes [that is, contaminated their character and personal integrity with sin]; and they will walk with Me [dressed] in white, because they are worthy (righteous).
𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: Let your garments always be white, and let your head lack no oil. 𝐄𝐜𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝟗:𝟖 (NKJV)
𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞
When we receive Jesus at salvation He takes our sins and clothes us with new garments, as we see in 𝐙𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟑:𝟑-𝟒, which says, Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel. 𝟒 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.” However, many of the believers in the church at Sardis had returned to a life of sin and compromise and had once again defiled their garment. They had failed to follow Jesus' warning in 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟐𝟔:𝟒𝟏, (Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation) and had fallen to temptation. However, rather than repenting and restoring their fellowship with the Holy Spirit, they continued ‘serving’ God with soiled clothes. We therefore need to watch and pray in order to maintain the oil of the Holy Spirit on our head, which, in turn, keeps our garments white.
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: As I watch and pray, let the oil never depart from my head in Jesus’ mighty name
