After Mass yesterday, the 16th of August, parishioner John Osinkoya was presented with the gift of a breviary, in readiness for starting seminary at Allen Hall in London next month. The parish of Saint Dyfrig is very grateful to John for his liturgical leadership as Choirmaster for more than two years and wishes him every blessing as he pursues his vocation. The gift was presented by Parish Priest Pastor Gareth Leyshon and student Catholic Society president Alaine Rose Babu .

Penrhys’s Llanfair Church has organised a project involving children and adults in Penrhys and other communities to make crochet squares for a shawl or a cloak for Mary's Statue in order to mark the Assumption of Mary. There is a meeting at the church at 12 pm today (14 Aug) to walk down to Mary's Statue, or people can meet at the Statue at 12.15.

This Sunday, 16 August, we will have the annual Assumption Mass at Our Lady of Penrhys at 3 pm (no Mass at St Mary Magdalene at 4 pm). ALSO on Friday 14 August at 12.15 pm, members of Llanfair Church Penrhys will have a short ceremony in which a cloak will be placed on the statute.

🎉 What a wonderful day it was at St Dyfrig's Church, Treforest, on Saturday as Alan de Ste Croix was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate by Archbishop Mark! 🙏

Deacon Alan was joined by parishioners, priests and deacons from across the Archdiocese (and beyond), and members of Sion Community who led beautiful music for the celebration. Alan and his wife Teresa are Covenant Members of Sion Community, and it was wonderful to see that connection so present on the day.

In his homily, Archbishop Mark reminded us all that "ordination is to service, and not to honour" - a good reminder for Deacon Alan as he begins this new chapter.

Congratulations, Deacon Alan - wishing you every blessing as you begin this new ministry! And congratulations too to Teresa and family, who have walked this journey with him.
